I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hi all, I have been skinny all my life and i know how hard it is to be physically unattractive. But lately ive decided to research on ways to gain weight. I stumbled upon Stronglifts and seeing the success stories here really pumped me up.

I actually started my diet 2 weeks ago and i bought a GNC weight gainer 1850 calories towards that purpose. I have started eating big (before i ate around 2 medium sized meals, i wonder if my cal intake was higher than 1000cal per day ). But now im resolute to not only lose the skinny look, but actually become muscular and big. My starting weight was 130.9 lbs (at 1.75cm) and after 2 weeks its now 134.2. Will be starting SL programme at the gym by the end of this week. I guess ill finish the GNC and start on the milk after that.

I use Fitday to track my cals, and its definitely above 3000 per day now (yesterday i hit 5000+ lol). Just took some pics which ill be keeping to show the changes in physique later on. I can already feel better and a little bit stronger.

Any tips on my start and the future?

Wish me luck guys!

hmm yeah one question..is it really important to have 6 meals?
I can stuff 3 really big meals. I got a busy schedule and 6 meals would be pretty inconvenient. 3 big meals is fine for me tho.

Have your three big meals and have three snack meals then.
No matter how busy you are it doesn't take much to pack up some extra tuna or PB sandwiches with some fruit as two of your extra snack meals, then have something before bed.

Hi James,

You're on the right track. Good luck on the GOMAD, SL & your weight gain. One suggestion - take some pics of yourself now. They'll be handy when you want to measure progress some time later.

As for the meals frequency, this has been discussed on this forum more than once. Here are the links -

I think practically all aspects have been covered in the discussions.

Good links from Guru ...you should read them.

Definitely eat more than 3 times per day, even if it is just a 300 calorie snack. Your body will be eating away at itself in between if not.

Once you start working out you will probably be hungry every couple of hours anyways.

But yeah, am supposed to work out tomorrow, you guys reckon i should go ahead with this sore body of mine or postphone it another day, just so that the pain decreases?

Go ahead. The soreness will disappear when the exercise makes fresh blood flow to the muscles. Don't postpone, it's a trap. If you do it this time, you'll feel like doing it every time you get sore.
