I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hello people.
About myself:
I'm a new strength trainer. I originally started working strictly on the bench press 12 weeks ago. I started with a 185 1RM to now a 250 1RM. Two weeks ago I started squatting, I'm about 190 1rm(Pathetic). I've been doing 6 sets of flat bench press each session two sessions a week, increasing weight each session and decreasing reps; in 3 week cycles. I'm 26 years old, and I went from 179lbs to 192 in these past weeks. I supplement with Isopure protein zero calorie protein 100g a day, and Superpump 250(for caffeine pre workout).

Questions:
1. My goal is to perform 300x1 by January 1, 2010. Possible?
2. After reading FAQ, I think I need to incorporate the "two steps back on step forward." Since the weight is definitely starting to feel "heavy" now. Sounds like a good idea?
Note: I can't afford gym membership(Gold's gym is the only one around here), or any more supplements. I only have a barbell and flat bench( I work out in my garage, neighbors think I'm torturing someone haha).

Suggestions are greatly appreciated. Hopefully I didn't post anything too noobish. Thanks. :D

Welcome ;)

Question: is the 300 target for bench only ? If so, why the focus on upper-body ?

I would suggest getting your squat a lot higher by following the SL 5x5 program, your bench will follow given time.
There are some recommendations in the articles when working out on your own.

Yes, for now. I decided to focus on the BP since it appeared to be the easiest of the lifts to get started with. I will definitely get my squat up, once my starting strength book arrives. I'm just nervous about my form; hopefully I'm doing the BP decent.
Thanks H
