I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

I started out with a trembly 7 push ups. In a relatively short amount of time I was able to get 30 on my first set. Now I have my son sit on my shoulder blades, 45lbs, and just hit 12 push ups today. Prone bridges help ALOT with the shaking and keeping your body straight. BTW when I started doing push ups, I was about 280lbs at 5'10" with 33.5% body fat.

I'm 300lbs with 22%BF and when I first started the program I couldn't manage one proper pushup as I'd never bothered doing any exercise. I did knee ups and gradually my strength grew from the other exercises. Now 2 1/2 months in I can do 26-30 for my 1st rep then 10 then 8 (sometimes 10).

At the moment I'm trying to get to just one chin up, it's getting there slowly after every exercise session I lower myself slowly on the bar and sometimes I just dangle for as long as I can, then attempt a lift. It's not about if I can do a chin up it's just a matter of when.

Don't give up keep at it even if you feel it's pointless, you will break that barrier and you'll feel great!

Yea I'm currently doing negs for chins and pull ups and I'm seeing improvement but man is it painful the next day! I secretly like it though :) It just feels good to have my back sore more than the soreness from bench or press. lol

I'm also on the heavier side. 6'2 255lbs but I can definitely feel the chins getting easier.

Clearly not alone on the 'big guy having trouble with body weight stuff' list. I'm 275lbs at 6'1 and I've worked up to decent enough numbers now, and my advice is just to stick with it. Its pretty hard at first, but just concentrate on knocking out the first one, then the next, then the next. Don't give up, just keep at it.
