I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Betcha clicked on this link with the flamethrowers ready to fry me to a crisp.

I'm wondering if anyone has used the P90x yoga or stretch dvd's to improve their flexibility.

I've done the first 35 minutes of P90x yoga. They are really great for opening your hips and stretching the posterior chain.

P90X Yoga and stretch was how I got my hips/hammys flexible enough to get deeper than parallel on the squat. Also gets the blood flowing to sore muscle groups

If your goal is to lose weight and maybe do sports that don't require strength then it is a good program. You won't become a strong person if you are not already strong. If you're a couch potato, you'll just die.

P90 (not 'x') is good for couch potatoes who just want to stop sucking at life. After a couple months of p90 my buddy went to the gym with me and immediately stopped doing what he was doing, bought a gym membership and he's doing SL5x5 now. He said "once i realized what a real workout was, i stopped P90 immediately". P90x is the same stuff, just really long and much harder. My buddy would never have done P90X because it is 6 days per week for more than an hour and that just isn't possible in normal people's lives.

I would have to disagree with you on a few things, I actually recently finished a 90 day round of p90x. I had been just doing circuit training type stuff at the gym before hand and did SL for a few months before that. I do know that after I came back to the gym after doing p90x I saw improvements in a lot of my lifts bench, OHP, inverted rows, pull/chin ups, and push ups. I did loose some strength in my squats but its something I think will come back fairly quickly. There is a lot of focus on core strength as well which I have noticed helping me alot, and the plyometrics video is a killer :). Over all there are a lot of good aspects to the program and parts of it I will continue to use after I start back up with SL. To the OP I really enjoy the Yoga X dvd and it has become a favorite of mine, the only downside is its 90 mins long. After I finish the session I feel great and refreshed ready to start the day or ready to relax before going to bed, to anyone who hasn't done yoga before I was amazed how good of a workout it was my first time. I will be using it 1-2 times a week on my off days to add some flexibility and overall fitness. I definitely recommend it!

P90X is a metabolic conditioning program akin somewhat to XFIT. p90x will help you on a cut, probably a lot. It will help you improve how many push ups and pull ups you can do in a short period of time. It will improve your aeobic capacity. It will not make you much stronger because you do not lift heavy things. The stretching, ab and yoga programs are all pretty good for what they are intended to accomplish. Unlike XFIT you do not do any OL or weighted squats.
There is a web site that is hilarious called fit bomb (sic), just goggle fit bomb. It details the adventures of a guy going through p90x day by day. It discusses every work out and CD both merits and demerits. If you are interested in p90x or any of its components I suggest you read this log. I also suggest you take a hard look at the guy who wrote it. He successfully did the program. He got more fit metabolically. Is this what you want as an outcome. I was actually given a copy what also kept me from it on a cut in addition to the time & results, was the need to do it in front of a TV which is not condusive to doing it in a gym.
This is more than what the OP was interested in accomplishing but several of the comments made me want to outline where I see the program in the scheme of things.

I agree with you 100% seadog, I wa sjust merely providing my observations from doing a 90 stint of p90x. I did see some strength gains in my overall strength that I think helped me with what I was lacking before when i did SL. My main point was the yoga and stretching dvds are a great resource to use, and some of the cardio ones are as well when you would like something other than the standard for cardio. Id also have to say fitbomb is a funny read.
