I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

I never have a problem speaking the truth PG. Besides, with the exception of the very conceited, no one likes how they look in pictures. Especially surprise pictures.

I'm sure you've heard the myth of Narcissus? What is lost in the common telling of the myth is that it wasn't extreme self-love that caused him to gaze at his reflection all day, but self-loathing. The original myth spoke of how he only saw the bad features of himself, when everyone else saw the good. So even the very Narcissistic don't always see their own beauty. BTW we can thank Freud for the common misconception of that parable.

We can thank Freud for a lot of things... lol. However, what better way to be famous than to come up with ideas and concepts that everyone will have a hard time with proving. I mean the whole your sub conscious controls your decisions thing is genius.

Sounds like religion....but you could also add 'rich' to go along with the famous part.

Ha most definitely. Now some of his ideas are good but most of them are pretty ridiculous.

Hahahaa this whole train of conversation just kills me in light of PG's efforts to refocus her log on her training. Go Freud!

How did you find the Bear complex, by that I mean was it easy, difficult, or moderate.
Male 37 - 5'9" - 240lb.
Deadlift 600+
Squat 500+
Pess 315 (on a good day)
Bench 450+
these numbers will go up

It was difficult especially after obliterating my triceps. My face was red and I was sweating. After the 3rd rep I usually had to stop and catch my breath a bit before doing rep 4 and 5.

I'm horribly sore. My upper back, tris, chest, upper shoulders (traps I think). My glutes were a little sore because of the front squat and the cardio (walking as fast as I could without jogging).

I walked out of there with a big grin on my face so I think I may be on to something.

I was thinking of just adding it to the end of week 2 workouts. Given I don't rest much between sets I finish the workout fairly quickly.

Anytime you leave a workout smiling you know it was a good one. Or it was so hard your endorphin's make u smile which is of course not really a bad thing. =D

Well actually I was originally going to suggest Clean & Press as part of week 1, rather than barbell row and seated press. Using the same %of max formula. But I thought it might be too taxing, if you can do clean & press with no teres major/minor problems, which seems to be the case it would make week 1 work that bit better.
I used to use this lift to control my %BF and it always worked for me.

This said that doesn't stop you adding a couple of rounds of "The Bear" too, in week 2.

I was going to test my maxes on the clean and press Monday. I couldn't accurately gauge it after doing all the tricep work.

I'll test my max on SLDL on Saturday as it is part of the workout anyway. I'll get back to you on the numbers.

I plan on doing the bear after workouts on week 2. Once I get better with that complex I might find another animal to tackle.

That will give me some added cardio. After seeing those pictures I need to kick it in high gear.

I'm also going to tweak the diet some more. I think I'm eating too much dairy. The exception will be low fat cottage cheese. I'm tweaking my meals to be protein, veggies and healthy fat. Snacks can be cottage cheese and fruit. Very similar to what I was following before. In fact I may just go back to using that meal plan.

I was a bad girl last night. I haven't been feeling good lately so when I got home from work I downed a rum & coke. Then by the time 8:30 rolled around I was starving. When I dont' feel good I don't watch what I eat like I should. So I downed some of the kids' french fries and M&Ms.

I woke up with the worse case of heartburn at 11:30p. Luckily one of my friends was online so I was able to chat with her until the meds kicked in.

So today is going to be better. I'm still tired but the cold seems to be staying the same and not getting worse. So I'll be at the gym tonight, Friday and Saturday.

Doesn' t matter that much.
You can't be expected to follow the rules 100% of the time.

Don't make a bigger topic out of it then it is.

Hubby took a couple of pics of me yesterday morning while I was sitting on the couch drinking coffee. They weren't very flattering especially the belly area. It could have been the shirt I was wearing. But probably not.

If I could change one thing it would be my belly. The rest of it is fine. But the belly needs the most improvement.
