I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

You should increase your whey intake, it'll help with the soreness, fills you up too.
Male 37 - 5'9" - 240lb.
Deadlift 600+
Squat 500+
Pess 315 (on a good day)
Bench 450+
these numbers will go up

I'll try it Jim. I can mix it with gatorade and drink it after my workout.

I was fortunate in that my in laws took my kids last night and won't be bringing them home until later. So rather than sleep in I met up with an acquaintence/friend and did some cardio. I've chatted with her at the gym over the years but she recently tracked me down facebook when we realized we had a mutual friend.

Anyway . . . . I did 45 minutes of cardio this morning.

Maybe a daft question: on the cardio sessions, what are you aiming to do? (It's on an elliptical, right?) Heart rate at a certain level, or maintain a strides/minute rating, or certain wattage, or ... ? Also, how do you get through it? TV on, headphones and music, alone with your own thoughts?

The whole point is to burn fat. I don't really aim for a specific hear rate. I'm just trying to work up a good sweat.

I usually do 15 minutes of cardio before my workouts in the second week so getting through it isn't that bad. I don't like tv so I listen to music. Usually some dance tunes.

Today I had company so I was able to visit with her while I did cardio. She has competed in figure 6 different times. It was nice picking her brain and learning all that's involved in the process.

Hopefully this didn't result in the two of you chatting and giggling like litte girls instead of doing a workout. The gym's purpose is to work until you collapse in tears with exhaustion, not socialize damn it!

No. We were not giggling and chatting. We were speaking in short sentences in between huffs and puffs. I was drenched by the time I finished.

She loves cardio. I'm hoping some of her enthusiasm will wear off on me.
