I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

I guess I'll have to change my avatar to be more pleasant, as well.

Bench went smoothly except for some douche bag who took the 5 lb plate off my bar. I was sitting on the bench in between sets. There were 2 young guys next to me getting ready to do decline bench. One of them came over to my station to get a plate. I didn't think anything of it. I had 15 lbs on either side of the bar. When I loaded the bar I took the only 2 five lb plates at that station.

I lay down and unrack it. Something's wrong. So I rack it and check the side that felt heaviest thinking maybe my grip was off or something. Unrack it again. Same thing. So I get up and look at the other side and my 5 lb plate is missing! I looked at the guy and asked him if he took it. He looked at my like a deer in the headlights. So I stormed off and found another one. After I finish my set he comes over with one in his hand and asks if I needed it. What an asshole.

Squats sucked tonight. I had running shoes on so I took them off and squatted in my socks. It was awkward both ways as I didn't have my normal shoes. Form was off. I was squatting down not back so most of it was in my quads. I don't know if it was an off workout or if I need to back off a bit and work on form. I'll see how I do next workout.

Seated military press bothered my shoulder so I stopped on the 3rd set. Same with BBR. I need to do something about this.

That's when you go take the plate back. I would in a heart beat.....and then give them so much shit, they'd not ever even want to look in my direction again.
Maybe time for some pre-workout stretching on that shoulder? There's a book called The 7 Minute Rotator Cuff Solution. I think it was around $20. You might get it and read through it.

I thought about it but there were 2 problems with that solution. 1. The guy I asked was spotting his partner so I would have had to wait til the set was finished and 2. it's possible (not probable) that I thought I had it on the bar but didn't. I really didn't want to make an ass of myself . . . . again.

I'm going to do some reading on the injuries forum. There's links for shoulder issues. If I don't find anything there I will check it out.

The pain is just under my left shoulder blade. When it's inflamed it aches down the back of my arm. If my arm is in just the right position my ring finger and pinkie finger will fall asleep.

It hasn't bothered me since before SL. I guess supporting 140 lbs on my back was just too much.

I'm surprised you found squatting in socks awkward, although I guess anything that is different from usual will feel strange at first.

Shame you started to feel pain in the shoulder as it seemed that you were blasting through the rest of the workout. Hope you find a solution to your shoulder issues soon (sorry I can't offer any).

@Dave - You're right. The issue wasn't the socks. It was not having my usual footwear. I typically wear sketchers. I already had them when I started SL and they have a hard sole. But here's the catch (and the embarrassing part) they look like shit with shorts. They look fine when I wear pants but not shorts. But it was 98 F yesterday. Sweat pants were not an option.

@Jim - Yes. I'm not sure how else to describe it but that is definitely the location. I'm going to do some digging around and if I don't find anything of use then I will try the book that RB recommended.

On the press I get the bar into position, lower it but when I push up it started hurting just as I was getting to starting position. It didn't actually hurt during the rows but after.

Ok. This should help exlain the problem.

If you scroll down to the picture the pain is in the posterior shoulder . . . .the teres minor muscle. I had hubby feel around my shoulder and it is definitely sensitive to touch. ouch!

I'm going to read through all the suggestions and start implementing some of them. We'll see how it goes.

Good luck with the shoulder injury. And 142 lbs with 29% bodyfat isn't a bad starting point, even at 5 foot. I thought I heard that 25% is considered "healthy" for women. That's not too far off!

I'm at the higher end of the healthy range. But it's not where I want to be. So I'm going to have to put the effort into it. Even if that means . . . . cardio.

I agree, cardio sucks. In the summers, I play basketball on Monday nights (cardio) and I'm going to start on the treadmill on Thursdays, if I can motivate myself to do it.

The secret is really no secret; you have to find some form of cardio you like. There is so much for you to choose from: the boring gym stuff, bike, tread mill, elipical, stair climb; there are thousands of videos to mimic at home; classes at the gym (heck you could be the only one in class without a plastic barbell :D ); running/walking.

I forgot who said it: Pick something you like and do it. Along the way you will find some type of cardio you like and never thought you would (sweating to the oldies?! )
