I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Stalling on deadlift is easy.
Just add more weight ... really

Keeping trying to lift it is the hard part and you got the right spirit there ;)

Monday! :)

I'm starting GOMAD tomorrow, going to stick with it for a month, see how that goes.

Squat 5/3/5/1@82.5kg Didn't feel too strong - the weight was really heavy. This is my third stall, I'm deloading to 80.
Bench 2@67.5, 1@67.5, 5/5/5/3@60 Pathetic! My upper body felt weak. Couldn't even do 60kg.
Inverse Row 3xF 4/4/2 Sheeeesh.
Pushup 3xF@15kg 11/7/7 Actually not too bad.
Reverse Crunch 3x12@10kg The usual.

Obviously not a lifting day for me. Also going back to kickboxing on Fridays after a stop of some weeks (holidays) probably affected my upper body strength. We'll see how Wednesday goes.

Cheers 8)

Wednesday :?

Second day on GOMAD. I'm glad I like milk.

This is the second time I perform below usual - I wonder why?

Squat 5x5@80kg Back at my old record. It felt good, but I had a pain in the right side of the groin area, like I pulled something. Squatted through it. Friday it's back to 82.5...
Press 5/5/5/4/5@45kg Almost a new PR...
Deadlift I warmed up, 5@60, 5@100. Loaded with 135kg, couldn't get it off the floor. Tried again. Still nothing. Deloaded to 110. Still couldn't master one rep. While 100kg went fine! What's going on here?
Pullup 3xF 5/2/3 . That's the first time it's been that low, I think.
Prone Bridge Went well.

Not too great - what happened to my deadlift? I hope to be back to my usual levels next week. In the meantime, I drink the milk and squat.

Cheers 8)

Maybe you need more food/sleep - probably an energy thing rather than strength?

You're doing GOMAD and your squat's up to 80kg... awesome!

Man don't worry about the deadlift... because the weight is dead you don't start with any feel for the weight, so your body can sometimes hold back subconciously and stop you from breaking the bar off the ground. This is one lift where anormalities can randomly occur... such things have happened to me many times. You just take it on the chin and make sure you're well rested and fed and try again next time.

You've made some nice progress in my absence. Keep it up!

Thanks guys - I'll try to get the wife to record my deadlift. Other than that, I'm not really worried - I'll get stronger every time I lift. It's just frustrating to not be able to lift below your PR.

Tonight I am attending a concert by Amon Amarth, I hope I'll be able to get some decent sleep despite that.

Thanks for the tips and encouragement!

I find sometimes you can throw yourself off by feeling the weight on the deadlift - I always have an easier time if I don't think about it or test it out and just haul it up.

Friday! :D

What a day. I came home last night at 2:30, since train traveling back home was a mess and eventually a taxi was needed. The concert was great, though. But sleep lacked.

Shortly before my lifting I got called to an attic fire, so I had plenty of adrenalin to start ;)

Squat 5x5@82.5kg New PR! Reps felt strong, hip drive was good. Wow!
Bench 5x5@67.5kg New PR! Amazing. No shaking weight, some nice lockout. My mp3player was set to random, it's weird to bench to this :)
Inverse Row 3xF 9/7/5. Felt good and powerful.
Pushup 3xF@15kg 13/10/10 . Also a New PR!
Reverse crunch 3x12@10kg The usual.

All in all a good way to start the weekend. I am reluctant to attribute these PRs to GOMAD, but it is uncanny.

So, conclusion ?
We need to lit fires left and right before you workout ?

Monday! :)

No fires today, too bad :) It had to be done the hard way.

Squat 5x5@85kg New PR! That's more like it. Powerful squat with good form.
Press 5/5/5@45kg Kickboxing took its toll - my shoulders were still sore. Still, it felt good. Friday will be better.
Deadlift 1x5@120kg Quarter of a rep on 135kg. Hard to believe I ever deadlifted 130 - but I will be attempting so again next Friday.
Chinup 3xF 5/3/4. Not very impressive. GOMAD is not helping, it's getting heavier ;)
Prone Bridge The usual.

I broke my elastic stretching band while stretching my shoulders. Damn you stronglifts :P

Not a bad day. Drinking the milk is getting easier. I'll see what Wednesday holds...

Damn, now we lost our correlation between fires and PRs ... there's too many of the latter, you see :D
