    I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. :lol: But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hi goddess. A very sensible decision to get back to the basics. I can also quite see that starting with the bar really gives you time to focus on the bear.

What I want to ask you is how does it feel to start this again, especially since you've been there - done it before?

@Neil - I'm leaving things the way they are. If I'm not hungry & my energy levels are good then I'm not going to force food. I'll eat after my workout.

@Mike - I read that in your log. It was one of the reasons I decided to do the same.

@Leon - The thing is I love breakfast foods. I don't think there isn't one I don't like. I just can't eat first thing. It's one of the those things RB got after me for all the time. I need anywhere from 1-3 hours before I'm ready to eat. So what is a traditional English breakfast?

You're right . . . no harm done. And if I'm honest with myself I'll admit I learned a great deal from my venturing. Things that will serve me well in the future.

@Guru - Thanks for dropping by. :)
I like the way it feels. It's familiar territory. I can't over think it. Add the weight, lift, rinse & repeat. When I get to the point I need something different I'll be more prepared for what needs to be done. I also know not to give up too soon. I did the first time. I was exhausted mentally & physically so it seemed the right thing to do at the time. Now I know it will be better to take a deload week rather than change programs so quickly.

All those things you learn along the way. :lol:

@FGNM - Just need a bit more focus on the diet & I'll be golden. 8)

Today's workout:

I succumbed to temptation & loaded the bar for squats. I worked up to a set of 2 @ 145 lbs. I was reminded what it will take to lift that weight for reps. I leaned too far forward on the second rep. I let the tightness in my core go. I also need to work on exploding out of the hole. The movement was just too slow.

Then I got the workout back on track. :D
Squats
5x5 - 65 lbs (amazingly light after 145)

Bench
5x5 - 55 lbs (still very light)

After that I only had a few minutes so I did 10 minutes of intense cardio on the eliptical.

Aw, I'm honored :D And you express my sentiments exactly; doing something when I already know where I'll end up allows me time to think about what I need to do when I get to where I was before...wow, that was convoluted, but there's a truth in there. It's like being able to approach it with a "If I knew then what I know now..." mindset.
My form is better, I know my weaknesses, and I have a better idea of how I adapt.

There are many traditional English breakfasts, but the basics will be:
bacon
sausage
eggs
baked beans/fried tomato (or both)
you will find additions depending on where you are in England of;
black pudding (blood sausage)
fried bread (mmmmm)
mushrooms
chips (as in French fries)
toast

mostly all of this is fried, but you can doff your cap to healthy eating and grill the bacon and sausage if you like.

Good workout - glad you're back doing the basics again, I think it makes a lot of sense given all the things you've said. Are you happier doing it?
2010 Goals:
Lose the Gut - 6 pack by 11/4/10 - it's a bet with the missus
100kgs clean and jerk by 24/3/10
80kgs snatch by 30/06/10
Be more dedicated

You might need more than 1-3 hours before you're ready for that breakfast in a morning!

Hey PG, good to see you going back to the basics. All of this is a learning experience though right? Are you going to add weight at the normal rate or are you going to go faster/slower?

@Neil - Everything on the menu looks good except for the black pudding. Not sure if I'd have the stomach for it.

Yes I'm happier doing this routine. It's simple & I don't have to think about it. Eventually I'll hit my maxes & feel burned out again but this time I'll know better how to handle it.

@Mark - I don't know about that. When it comes to breakfast I have quite the appetite.

@James - In my world EVERYTHING is a learning experience no matter how good, bad or mundane. Personality quirk. :roll:

I'm increasing the squat & bench by 10 lbs. OHP is staying at 5 lb increments & the deadlift will increase by 20 lbs. Once I approach my maxes I'll slow things down.

@Rere - Image

@Liz - I'm not concerned with the assistance work. My top concerns are diet, the main lifts & cardio in that order (I reserve the right to change that order in the future). Looking in the mirror has become an unpleasant experience & I'm uncomfortable being this heavy & with this much fat.

So now that my kitchen is back in use (the floors were being redone) I can ramp up my efforts in the diet category.
