I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

PowerLine or Powertec Power Rack?

Apart from the price (PowerLine $353 and PowerTec $499 on Amazon), can anyone tell me any major differences between these two products?

PowerLine PPR200X Power Rack

Powertec P-PR Power Rack

I guess I want to know if it's worth spending the extra $150...

And now for a real long shot... Any one out there living in Taiwan who knows a store selling Power Racks? Preferably in the Taichung area...
Although I am considering just taking along a few pictures to a local factory and getting them to make it - they're probably all made here anyway :D

I bought the ppr200x some weeks ago, in Italy. 360€, don't know how many dollars.
It fits nice in my bedroom, and the safety bars are just at the right height to save me in case of a bench press armageddon :D
Obviously, you should be exactly my height and have the same bench i have, so i guess that doesn't matter at all. :P

The grip in the pull up bar sucks badly (just touch it and your calluses will explode :D), but you can cover it with athletic tape or with a towel.
The holes for the safety bars will eat their painting (unless that was only my power rack with this problem..), you can probably file hem easily, but i haven't done it yet.

Depends on how much money you have and how heavy you plan to go. I think the Powerline one would be fine for most people. The other one is a little nicer and supports up to 1000 lbs but chances are you won't get anywhere near that heavy. So I'd go with the less expensive one unless you're planning to really beat the shit out of it.

Have you checked this one out? Looks better then either of the other two you are checking out IMO.

Deltech Power Rack

Yeah, that's definitely worth considering although the pull up bar will need some athletic tape on it, same as with the PowerLine. This bench that Deltech do looks pretty solid.

I went for the Powertec P-PR because of the dip bars (which are approx 2" in diameter--you can do more weight/reps on thicker dip bars) and which can be angled in (for triceps dip) or out for a wide-grip chest dip. Also the pull-up bar on the Powertec is angled, so you can use a narrow parallel grip (palms facing each other), a "normal" grip, or a wide grip to target lats. With the wide grip, the pull-up bar is angled down slightly so that your wrists aren't stressed..

The PowerLine sounds like a good rack, but the Powertec P-PR is worth it for the dip bars. You'd spend more than $150 on good dip bars. My home gym is just the P-PR, an adjustable bench, a barbell, and oly dumbbell handles on a raised wooden platform. Total cost approx $1000USD.

That Deltech has no dip bars, a straight pull-up bar, and a single review. It's not worth saving the money over the Powertec..

Agreed, the dip bars and chinning bars on the powertec work well.

They work very well, i own that rack myself, got it in my garage, fits nicely, and cause its built to take massive loads, 1000 lbs, i dont worry about ''beating the shit out of it'' as stated above in the thread:)

Money well spent imo
If your going through hell, keep going.
