I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

I sometimes get red spot/lump things on my face, spefically around my mouth area which is prone to dry skin.

They're really hot and itchy and appear from no where.

It doesn't hurt or anything if i press/touch it so it doubt its a pimple, although, sometime when the size and itchyness of it goes down there will be a bit of a whitehead in the middle.

I also have eczema, but have never gotten it on my face, and it doesnt look like this.

Any ideas what it is?

If you want to know what it is or how to make it go away, go to the doctor.  No one on the internet can diagnose or treat you

Red spot/lumps on my face

Postby mutt » Tue Apr 01, 2008 2:48 am

back when i was 17, there was this university gym i used to go to, i always got a little rash (like a round little red rash, maybe 1cm in diameter).. my brother got it too and went to the same gym. it never lasted long, but seemed to only happen after i went there.
when i quit working out there, i never saw it again. clean the equipment before you use it, and don't touch your face until after you wash your hands. shower as quickly as possible after too
if its a home gym.. i'm out of ideas.. allergy of some sort, probably..

Red spot/lumps on my face

Could it be related to shaving? After shaving, I also experience a skin that is red and dry and in grown hairs which seem to cause white heads. If so, you might want to check out the "shave like grandpa" thread.

Skin problems is related to food. Eastern medecine believe problems around the mouth is related to problems with the stomach. In other words: if you eat shitty foods, expect shitty skin. If you have digestive problems, you'll have skin problems (what you're digestion can't clear, will go through your skin).
Track what you eat, and see how you react. You can also do a cleansing diet for a while by removing anything what causes allergies from your diet. eggs, dairy, animal fats, gluten, nuts, etc. See if your skin improves. then gradually reintroduce foods one by one and see how you react.
And bluze is right on the shaving. Quality of razor, how you shave, and the products you use are important. Watch out with shaving creams/aftershaves, they contain chemicals, your skin might not like it.

Besides the question of what "Eastern medicine" believe, is there any evidence that problems around the mouth are related to problems with the stomach? Cold sores on the lips are caused by the Herpes Simplex virus, which has nothing to do with digestive problems.
My point is just that if you have an unexplained rash that you've never seen before, you should probably see (or talk to) your doctor rather than consulting people on a message board.
