I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Thanks Tintin. I see your going great yourself. If we stick with a program we will make gains, the road is still rough though and there will always be an upset somewhere, but if we stay true to ourselves we can make good gains and see through the bad times.

Peace.

Well said rere - worthy of adding this to the signature or someplace similar.

Yea, its tough going nowadays as the weights are getting quite heavy. I think my biggest problem is form at the moment. Therefore I have deloaded and tried different rep ranges and some other exercises in between as I'm not progressing without a serious worsening of form.

Thanks for the inspiration! :)

@Guru...Cheers mate.
@Nelka...Yeah the gym is swell mate real good. I'll be there for years to come I'm sure, everyone has a great attitude towards each other and chalk usage is allowed, no one batters an eyelid.
@Tintin...Keep it up mate. I think the best thing we can do is have a log it not only shows us how far we have progressed or regressed but it also shows members out there that only hard work with attention to form and other details pays off in the end. Always try to lift more than next year, I like that statement. I think Mehdi wrote it.

Peace.

5/3/1 Cycle 2
Week 3

01/11/09

Deadlift:
3x107.5kg
3x125kg
3x140 (7)

Front Squat: 3x5@50kg
Back Extensions: 3x10@BW

03/11/09

Press:
3x45kg
3x52.5kg
3x57.5kg (3)

Chins: 10/5/5/2/3
Dips: 2.5kg 7/6/5

05/11/09 (Guy Fawkes/bonfire night)

Squat:
5x90kg
3x102.5kg
1x112.5kg (1)

Squat: 2x10@60kg
Back Extensions: 2.5kg 10/10

Good week I seem to be back in the groove. Happy with all the reps on the last set. I went for a second rep on the last set of the Squat and the safety bars came to the rescue. I think I been hard on myself since my return from excessive drinking and lying in the sun.
The Press is still tough as ever  Funny enough I am looking forward to the deload week and then push hard in the next cycle.

Assistance work seems to be ok. I don't want to change anything at the moment see how things go. The GHR machine is broken so back extensions will have to do for now, I'll alternate between weighted and unweighted and I'll do the same with Dips/Chins/Pull-ups.

Tonight I was reminded how wonderful it is to Squat it really is the king of all exercises but man does it drain every ounce from your body and to think I used to squat three times a week

Next week: BP/DL/PR

Peace. 8)

That thought crossed my mind more than a few times this cycle.

7 reps @ 140 is sweet rere.

Looks like it takes some time to get back in the groove. I'm going through a similar thing now. Hopefully we will bounce back in the next cycle.

3x140 (7)

Awesome.

The squat is a hell of a lift, isn't it? I was just telling someone at badminton tonight about the feeling of your whole body working to push that much weight with perfect form... There is nothing like it.

To be honest Kib squats still give me that "fear" when I go under the bar. That little voice of pussiness  which wants to have an excuse for not squatting. I thank stronglifts for the squat ethos.
I only have this fear with Squats, no other movement so I always tread carefully and try to give it my all.

Some other guys have shown me lunges and one legged squats etc....your right the barbell free weight squat is king and it took me over a year to be convinced, it's not my favourite lift but man when someone tells me the weight looks heavy cause I have a few plates on the bar, it makes me smile.

Long live the Barbell Squat.

 That Deadlift set was cool thanks, You know I could of done another 2 but it's good to stop short and not go to failure.

Peace.

When I get those doubtful thoughts before a lift, I remember Don Logan in "Sexy Beast" and clear those thoughts away with "You're just going to have to turn this opportunity YES!" Ben Kingsley said he was "channeling a tomahawk missile" playing that role. Works for me. :D
