I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Too close for comfort! If I don't crack 37.5 on my next go around I'm in serious trouble!

I think you don't need to worry so much. I just got 70lbs, so I have a feeling 75lbs will be quite heavy again.

Still, you've been making good progress lately. And if I have to deload again, we'll be tied! Close races are much more fun anyway :D

Wednesday:
Weight: 194.6lbs.
Weird. Perhaps scale was funky last time? Good sign though, almost 200lbs.

Squats:
1x10 (35lbs) Keep forgetting, 35lb bar.
1x5 (75lbs)
1x3 (105lbs)
5x5 (130lbs) PR!!!
That was hard, but still getting out of the hole with much grunting. Try to hold my breath on way up but inevitably about half way up, I let it out, along with some amusing grunts. Friend says form is good and it doesn't look like I am coming close to stalling. First set is the hardest.

Bench Press:
1x10 (35lbs)
5,5,5,5,4 (100lbs)
I kinda figured this would happen but am happy I got as many as I did. Bar speed was quite slow on many of them, and my face turned different shades of red and purple. Shoulder bugging me on first couple of sets, then fatigue bothering me on the rest.

Barbell Rows:
5x5 (65lbs)

Worked on keeping shoulders back, chest out, back straight. Again, friend said form looked good and he didn't see any cheating. Felt this weight but bar speed still decent.

@Shox - I'll be trying 75lbs soon. I have a feeling it's going to feel quite heavy. Just hoping I can put it up 5 times for at least a few sets. I have been watching the Rippetoe videos on Pressing and hopefully that will help.

Yeah, my next workout will be trying 75lbs. I have to admit, 70lbs was no picnic. The bar speed was sooooo slow, but it went up. I didn't work out since Wednesday's workout, so it should be interesting how 75lbs goes. If it goes well, perhaps you could stand a few extra days rest as well. I know a few extra days has helped my squats before, why not OHP?! :)

Monday:
Weight: 193lbs.
Expected this as I went out of town for the weekend and drank, ate like shit and basically lived it up.

Squats:
1x10 (35lbs)
1x5 (85lbs)
1x3 (105lbs)
5x5 (135lbs) PR!!!
Officially the 45lb plates on a 7' bar now! Bam! I felt slow going and certainly felt it but my friend said form and speed looked about the same. I did find though that when I drop into the hole, when I feel like I am going deep, it's my back going down not my butt dropping lower. Must keep an eye on this.

OHP:
1x10 (35lbs)
5,5,5,5,6! (75lbs) PR!!!!!
Changed my form based on Rippetoe's videos and BAM, weight goes up much easier. Also didn't pause at top or bottom. Just put it up and let it down. Frickin' Awesome!!!!!!

Deadlifts:
1x5 (135lbs) PR!!!

Alright, these are getting fuckin hard! Was grunting a whole lot. May have to review some videos to determine if I am doing them right. No back pain however, so that is good.

So happy to set PR's after a weekend of drinking and partying and missing the last workout, but I know I need to certainly not make a habit out of that. I am feeling better about my gut as well, so for now I may keep drinking the milk as I ran out of steam and was out of breath a lot more today than usual. Also, need to quit smoking! grrrr.

Great PRs mate! I hear ya about the gut. Felt the same way as you for a long time, but everything that got tight is getting back to normal these days. I plan on keeping up the calories and the milk until I'm at 1.5bw squat or spring rolls around, whichever comes first. Then I'll start cutting for a body I won't be embarrased of at the beach!

I'm in the same boat with smoking too. I've managed to cut down to smoking only on weekends when I go out (might sneak an occasional puff after dinner on weekdays), but even that affects my Tuesday workout. I wonder what it is that keeps me on the damn things.

Thanks bro! I think I may do the same. Gut isn't getting bigger, just tired of looking at it! :D

Great to hear you cut down that much on smoking. I smoke way too much, pack a day. I'm going to start carrying my esmoke (electronic cigarette) around with me and using that instead. I'm sure I could at least cut back doing that.

Being a teacher a few years back really helped me cut down on smoking since I wasn't able to smoke at work at all. That translated into fewer smokes in the evening and then eventually to none at all. Put a pint in my hand and all hell breaks loose tho!
