I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hmmm, I may have heard about your condition before. It's called oheichpeephobia and typically occurs when one is coming close to stalling on the OHP. Symptoms generally include nightmares, stiff shoulders, a desire to deload in order to "work on form", and desperate calls for help in the form of all caps posts on a buddy's training log. Treatment usually consists of extra doses of protein and calories, several nights of good sleep and sex with a sexy young thing who loves you for your huge OHP.

rofl!!! :D You guys are too much!

I saw a physical therapist today about my shoulder and they think it's an impingement and can be corrected. Cost is affordable and only 4-6 weeks to do according to them. I will have to stop benching and OHP in the meantime. DOH! :( Guess you guys will be having nightmares by yourselves... :D

Once that's all fixed, they say I can go back to lifting as usual and it should be good! Woot!

Wednesday:
Weight: 191lbs. WTF!
I've been eating well last couple of days. Guess I need to eat more!

Squats:
1x10 (55lbs)
1x5 (85lbs)
1x3 (105lbs)
5x5 (140lbs) PR!
And I thought 135 was heavy. pffft. I really don't know how I got the 5x5 but I did. Movement was slow but form good according to friend. I'm hoping my form is good and I don't need a new friend! :)

Bench Press:
1x10 (55lbs)
2x5 + 3x5 (100lbs) PR?
Alright, I know I need to stop benching, but not until physical therapy starts, right? :) I don't really think this counts as my friend had to leave after my second set, so I waited an hour until my other friend came by to work out. I finished the 3 sets but not sure I should count it.

Barbell Rows:
5x5 (70lbs) PR!

Worked on pushing my abs out and clenching glutes and I guess my back stayed a lot straighter this time. Even a bit of an arch. 30 seconds of rest between sets. Was good cardio as well! :)

I did not feel well today at all. Out of energy, lost weight, just feeling very lethargic. I think I may need to stop eating turkey and switch to red meat or chicken. I think the combination of that with milk is too much. Either that or I need to quit smoking! haha! Fuck, I need to quit already! Really pissing me off!

PRs across the board! Well done sir. Squats are funny like that, half way through you're thinking "no way" but somehow your on your last set and blasting it out. Great feeling.

Great to hear that you can get your shoulder fixed! Wish you all the best for that :)

Saturday:
Weight: 191.6lbs

Squats:
1x10 (55lbs)
1x5 (85lbs)
1x3 (115lbs)
5,4 (145lbs) 5,5,5 (135lbs)
145lbs was a huge struggle and was unable to maintain good form. Attempted another set but the problems remained. Dropped weight to 135 to finish sets. Will try 145 again, but if form degrades again, I will deload.

OHP:
1x10 (35lbs)
4,2 (80lbs) 5,5,4 (70lbs)
80lbs was huge and just was not feeling it. Deloaded again to get volume. Will try 80 again next time.

Deadlifts:
5x5 (145lbs) PR!

Used my legs to lift instead of lower back. Weight seemed much easier this way. Back stayed straight and felt no lower back pain at all.

Not feeling to great about squats and OHP, but as my weight has dropped/stayed the same the last week, I think I may have to up my intake again. When I look at my body, it still is quite difficult to tell that anything is happening. Everything feels firmer but seems just as small as day one. I know it's not about size, but how much weight is on the bar, would be nice to see something though. :(

Well done on the deadlift, too bad the others didn't go as well. I feel like you sometimes about visible results. Would be nice to see things changing, but we're still just getting started. I figure by next summer-ish we'll be happy campers.

Thanks Cory! Sometimes it's tough to keep motivated when you don't see results, but yeah, I have to realize that we're all different and all progress at different rates. I guess it's been especially hard since my friends are already showing visible results after 1 month, while I'm still struggling to see anything after 3. They are 10 years my minor though, so that could explain it.

Gonna do as you say and keep my spirits up and look forward to next summer! :D At least my lifts will be bigger by then!

Monday:
Weight: 192.6lbs.
Guess that 3/4 gal of milk a day since my last weigh in is helping.

Squats:
1x10 (35lbs)
1x5 (65lbs)
1x5 (85lbs)
1x3 (115lbs)
5,5,4,5,4 (145lbs)
For some reason I was going slow on the way down. Simply could not convince my body to drop faster. Stalled out in the hole for something like 3 seconds just sitting there. I don't know why. This weight is really trying for me although it did feel better than last time.

Benchpress:
1x10 (55lbs)
5x5 (100lbs) PR!!
Rested less between reps and that really helped. Felt this in my shoulders a lot, not so much in my chest. Also, friend noticed my right arm lagging behind and flaring out. I concentrated on keeping arm speed equal and the flaring out went away nearly.

Barbell Row:
1x10 (35lbs)
5x5 (80lbs) PR!!
Felt pretty good even though I was wiped at this point.

Was a very draining workout physically. By the time we reached Barbell Rows, I was nearly spent. Think I may need to eat more regularly, not just more. Had another day today of no eating nearly the entire day. Still ate in the morning and when I got home, but perhaps that long period without eating is hurting my progress.

Wow, guess looking in the mirror doesn't cut it anymore. Nice to see the increases on chest, arms, and legs even if they are still rather puny. :P

Great to see some concrete results hey? Well done! And congrats on the PRs!

As for your eating habits, I would highly suggest you get on a more regular schedule. Long stretches of no eating tend to put your body in a fat storing mode cuz it's expecting to go through times of famine. That makes it that much harder to shed belly fat. I have a hard time eating 6 meals a day (hard time = maybe once a week if I'm lucky) but I do make sure I split my milk intake into regular 500ml doses at regular times throughout the day (breakfast / mid-morning snack / afternoon snack / pre-workout / post-workout / before bed). I also try to throw in a hundred grams of mixed nuts or a couple cans of tuna or some fruit along with the milk. Not a "full" meal but keeps the calories coming in consistantly and the metabolism firing. Of course, I got a desk job so it's that much easier for me. My your posts I'm guessing you work in an auto shop? Hopefully you can work some regular meals into your schedule.

Thanks Cory! Was great to nail the bench after failing twice.

I work as an IT tech (on call) so sometimes I have time to eat, sometimes not. It all depends on what I'm doing. I should pack some sandwiches or something and just eat them during the day however I know I'm slacking in that department. My buddy owns the auto shop that we work out at. I was helping him out before getting the IT job.

I am seriously considering taking a week off. My lower back is feeling quite sore and I am feeling generally tired most of the time. Don't think I could be overtraining per se, but I have had a pretty continuous run of non-stop working out now for nearly 3 months. I think I may time it in sync with getting my shoulder rehab. What do you guys think?

On call IT guy...sounds kinda cool. I'm a bit of a geek (built my first PC over the summer) and always wanted to work in computers.

I personally don't see the harm in taking a week off if you're feeling tired. I've read some of the moderators posts talking about how you won't lose any strength after just a week and there are a bunch of benefits. When is your shoulder rehab planned for? I would suggest taking a week off before that so you're rested for it, focus on the rehab, then return to training. That way you can marshall all your energy for the rehab and come back to training rested. Keep in mind tho, I haven't a clue what I'm talking about, just speaking from my gut :)

Built your own PC...nice! My day typically involves removing viruses and general garbage that causes peoples PC's to slow down. I have built my own PC's and it can be very rewarding.

I'm going to a doctor on Friday hopefully so he can check it out and determine exactly what the problem is. Then, he will write a script for me to get rehab at a PT. They are thinking it will take somewhere between 4-6 weeks and by the end of that, I will have full mobility again. They recommend no bench press or OHP for the duration. I can still do the other exercises. I think I will do a week off and see what happens. I noticed that the last time I took 4 days off, I came back stronger and hit new heights. Hopefully this will be the same. :) I'm going to finish this week, and start my week off next week.
