I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hi guys,
What do you guys think of the rowing machine for cardio after the weight session?
What cardio do you do?

Faraz-

Hey, if you like to erg...do it. A hell of a lot easier on the body than running

I use it for a quick warm-up... a couple of 500 pieces maybe a 1k.

After a session, pick your poison:
steady state work
interval work

From what I've read, you get just as big a bang for your buck by doing interval work. No need for lengthy steady state work.

Yeah easier on the body, but still a hell of a workout.... specially after a weight session.

Going to build up to 5km........

Thanks for the feedback!

I also use it in my warmup and used to use it after the lifting too.

Personally it bores the hell out of me, but it seems to work ;)

I love the row machine. I try to burn out on it after 1 sometimes 2 workouts a week. If you want to try something challenging, or at least I find it challenging, row 500m in under 2 minutes for 3 sets. The next time you row, do it under 1:55 for 3 sets. Once the time gets down to 1:45 it's brutal. Or if you want to row for longer lengths just make sure each 500m interval is done in sub 2 minute marks. Also if your machine has resistance setting make sure it's on the highest setting.
The bands won’t make you squat big; check between your legs before you change anything. It takes more than a band to make you squat. -Chuck Vogelpohl

that is the only machine i wish my gym had. i used it before in my previous gym and loved it for cardio. i could do that 4-5 times longer than running cause its just so much fun and gives a good burn in the upper body.
