I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hi guyz,

For some reason and no matter what I do I cannot run away from back injuries... I have gone through mehdis/strong lifts howto's on squatting deadlifiting etc..

Today while working out, I injured my back and I dont quite know how bad it is... Could some1 help me out and assist me in building a stronger lower back?

I have been working out for a year now.. My biggest problem is lifting weights/plates of the floor. I am assuming my stance/posture is incorrect leading to back problems.

In my understanding the injury occurred when I was trying to lift weights off the floor to stack them on the leg press machine. I experienced a sharp pain in my lower back while i was lifting the plates to stack them onto the leg press machine..

I immediately stopped lifting weights and did a lil bit of stretching.

The pain can be best described as:

1. Sharp lower back pain
2. Difficulty in leaning forward
3. Mild persistent pain while lying down
(it's been 3 hours after workout)

I have had temporary back problems on and off since quite sometime and frankly an injury is really demotivating.. I havent been able to follow a discplined workout due to my job etc and this injury has only made it difficult..

Can some1 guide me in building a herculean lowerback? Where am I going wrong? How do i recover from this? How soon can i hit the gym?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I apologize if this is blatantly obvious and you already do it. When you pick things up off of the floor do you utilize some of the stuff you've learned from Deadlifting? ie. using legs and hips and not pulling with lower back?

Yes, actually most of the times. The problem is while lifting plates of the rack to mount them onto the machine(leg press).
I am assuming sometime while lifting weights off the floor/rack my posture kinda screws up causing direct pressure on my lower back..

Probably you/some1 could help me out with a guide as to how not to screw up while lifting heavy plates/weights of the floor (i knw it sounds lame!)

When can I resume my workouts... How long is the road to recovery. Cheers

Hey,

Can some1 shed some light on this? I did a lil bit of reading and started with moderate exercises like walking, jogging and after imho the jog just made things worse.. so taking complete rest for a while.. Could some1 help me out.. Just wondering why no1 has replied yet.. did even go through topic covered in the forum however could not get a definite plan of action for my recovery... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
