I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Shoulder Dislocations

I tried some at home with a traditional broomstick. I did 3 sets of 10 with as wide a grip as possible, however couldn't get far behind my head. I am quite tall with long arms, should I start working with a longer rope and much wider grip to go all the way behind my back? Or keep using broomstick width and gradually increase flexibility?

Very tight upper back, slumped shoulders, but this exercise felt very good.

I found an 8 foot section of pvc pipe to use. As time goes on I am able to move my hands closer together. Some day I will be on the broomstick.

I myself started focusing on these recently. I'm working with a rope, knotted in place to gauge my flexibility and measure my progress. I think that doing the full range of motion -- whatever it is -- and then working your grip closer and closer together over time is a better way to go. "Grease the groove."

Dood, you have the same problem as me. I used x2 broomstick handles taped together to make a longer pole. The standard broomstick needed to be about 30cm (1ft) bigger so I made it bigger.

Just make sure when you’ve been doing these for a while you don’t get cocky and start with your hands too close together. I did and it felt like I had dislocated my shoulder, serious shooting pain. I start wide and each time I do one I move my hands closer together.
