    I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. :lol: But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

he he - nah got sick of having to wait for equipment and muscle pumpers just training chest and arms continuously.......so decided to save my gym membership pennies and get my own hardcore gym!!!!
That and i also train at some of the weirdest times when commercial gyms aren't open!!!!

Show Off Your Home Gym!!

Postby Doo » Sat Mar 01, 2008 4:27 am

Below is my home gym... which is also my workshop...which is also my home automation control center (not pictured). The Roman chair with glute/ham raise bench is new. The foam pads stacked up under my wife's aerobics step are for barbell rows and deadlifts. I later plan on taking over that area more permanently (I should wait a little while and maybe no one will notice ) and having plywood sheeting under the foam pads. Would give me a 4' x 6' area to work. The GHR bench is more stable on the concrete floor though and that space is not really big enough for what I have planned so I am not sure how it will turn out.

 Home Gym includes:

  • Glute/ham raise bench

  • Multi-function weight rack including butterfly, chinup bar, and cable system for tricep pushdown, seated rows, etc.

  • Adjustable bench with leg curl/extesion attachment and preacher curl attachment

  • Olympic bar (obviously)

  • EZ curl bar

  • 20lb, 50lb and a pair of 2-45lb adjustable dumbbells

  • NordicTrack ski machine

  • Mini-trampoline - "rebounding" (highly rated by NASA for cardio but a little boring and hard to watch TV or read :))

  • Aerobic step

  • Stability ball - I did weighted abs with this but none of the other stuff you see. It was effective but GHR is much better.

  • 8lb medicine ball

  • Homemade block for calf raises

  • Tanita scale with bodyfat measurment (fairly accurate if you measure later in the day and after body is warmed up otherwise, for me, it overstates bodyfat by up to 4%)

Not sure how much of this stuff I will use anymore but I have four girls (including mom) and a lot of it is still good for general toning but I tell them it is not the best exercises they could do to improve athletic performance.
Wish List

  • Higher ceiling so I can do presses instead of seated presses.

  • Some strongman competition stuff that I can have fun with outside during the summer. Speaking of summer and outside, I may drag weights out to do presses outside.

@Mehdi
Thanks. I edited the post to list equipment as others have done. I finally got to use my daughter's camera. Didn't spend time to learn how to take better pictures but I got theones I need for the article. I am editing now and will provide it to you in Microsoft Word format later today or tomorrow.

This is my very tight workout space. Fortunately I'm not a tall guy so I can do the overhead press inside the cage ;)

@bluhorseshu
I used Microsoft Photo Editor (not really a good photo editor btw) to compress images for Web and then uploaded to my own website. Images went from 2M to <50K. You can find free sites to upload photos and then provide link.

My wish list should also include a flat panel HDTV mounted high on the wall. I can focus and ignore TV while lifting but sometimes like to watch while resting. I also like to watch TV while doing indoor cardio.
