I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Site Down Time June 2009

Postby Mehdi on Wed Jun 17, 2009 10:09 am

Site went down 7x this month. Server gets out of memory every time. We're outgrowing the server's capacity. Call it a high quality problem.

Permanent solution is to tweak the server or upgrade to a more expensive hosting. Sean has already tweaked the server heavily, maybe he can do more. But eventually we'll need to upgrade. Especially the increased forum usage is a killer.

So when site goes down: come back a little later. Know we're working on a long-term solution.

Out of memory? I assumed it was cpu usage because of all the database queries this forum needs. What is stronglifts.com running on exactly?

A vps, sure. But that doesn't tell me much. The reason I ask is because my brother deals in server capacity and I was wondering what configuration stronglifts.com runs on (resources as cpu, memory, etc) and what is paid per month. (I understand if this is sensitive information)

I'm not trying to be a smart-ass, I'm just wondering if there'd be a possibility to help out.

I don't think you're a smart-ass. If you want to help, check your mailbox.
