I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Bad news...

I got food poisoning for a week. Was violently sick for days and didn't eat anything for at least half a week :(

As a result I've lost a bunch of weight (both fat and muscle) and look really gaunt. I was 146.5lbs this morning. It's a big set back but I'm feeling better now and am ready to start over. Looks like I'll have to reset the weight!

Squat - I'll go back to 50KG
Deadlift - 60KG
Military - Drop to 37.5KG
Bench - 50KG

I'm hoping I'll gain quicker due to muscle memory but I'm going to change my goals anyway.

Goals for Easter (23/03/09):
- Hit 11.5 stone whilst maintaining the same bodyfat.
- Squat 85KG 5x5
- Bench 70KG 5x5

Food poisoning sucks- sorry to hear that you had to deal with that. You will recover your strength faster than it took you to build it up in the first place just as you said. And I can assure you that stronglifts does work. I am also 5'11" and am now at 190 lbs after three months. You can easily gain 30 lbs by the summer if you eat a lot and follow the program. Don't worry about putting on some fat either- it won't hurt you- particularly now after your illness. Good luck!
Age: 42 Ht: 5'11 Wt:190
Bench 155, Rows 160, Dips BW+25, Squat 235, OHP 106.25, Dead 263, Chinups BW 8x5 and 2x4

Workout #2 - 24/02/09
72.5KG - 5x5 Squats
60KG - 5x5 Bench
3xF Inverted Rows
3xF Pushups
3x12 Reverse Crunches

Saw a girl I knew in the gym today so that was my motivation on the squats, I'm sure that added a few KG to what I could do ;) They were hard but it was a great feeling when I banged out the last rep. Bit of a niggle on the left side of my groin but it seemed to disappear as I worked through the sets. Going to make sure I warmup really well next time.

Bench was also a record. Had another guy spot for me (who was doing 120KG!) so that was motivational as well. It really helps having someone else there, wish I had a training partner really... Generally a good workout and 2 PRs :)

Workout #3 - 26/02/09
75KG - 5x5 Squats
45KG - 5x5 Military Press
3xF Pullups/Chins
2x60s Prone Bridges

I was absolutely knackered today but decided: f*** it! I'll do it anyway! So I downed a few energy drinks and hit the gym.

PR on the squats. Well happy.

I only had 30 mins in the gym so I had to leave out deadlifts.. oops. I'll make sure to do them next time.

Great workout overall though. I'm making good progress :)
