I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Squats only routines

Postby Portillo on Fri Nov 06, 2009 3:55 am

I was wondering what the pro's and con's would be of a squats only routine? Meaning just heavy squatting, and no other exercises.
Stats:
Bench: 82kg
Squat: 107kg
Deadlift: 110kg
OHP: 50kg
Dips: 32kg
Pull-ups: 22kg

How about a 20-reps squats routine ??
It basically is one set of 20 reps, then BW assistance exercises.

You could try Smolov that would increase your squat greatly and due to the intensity it won't be a problem if you don't intend on doing other exercises but some b/w stuff or doing bench/seated press with it wouldn't go amiss (things like deads and OHP should probably be avoided if you doing Smolov for Squats as far as im aware - if you search the main page Mehdi has a couple of articles about it).

Why do you want to only do squats?

^ No reason in particular. Except that i could focus all my energy into the squats and not worry about deadlifts, OHP and bench presses afterwards. But im still a beginner so im gonna stick with Stronglifts.

I'm assuming you mean a squat only workout, as opposed to a squats only program?
