I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Squatting barefoot

Postby JonHarris40 » Fri Mar 14, 2008 10:18 pm

I am going to give it a go in my socks next week, don't know what my gym will think of that but I will give a try and see if they say anything, I am hoping it will help my squats.

Squatting barefoot

I like doing my squats in socks.... not barefoot... and if anything it's just because aftera long day of wearing my old ratty shoes, my feet smell horrible... socks mask it... and no slippage for me.

Squatting barefoot

I'll add myself as another socks-only weight lifter. It's primarily because I only have trainers with compressable soles, but I'm so used to it now. I'm shoes off when I enter the gym, and stay shoes off until I've completed my workout.

Wearing socks is like wearing gloves.

Squatting barefoot

Postby mackanno » Tue Mar 18, 2008 8:27 am

Been doing the barefoot thing for a while now and works great. Better stability, and the best part? the "know-it-all" at the gym just evades me ! ! !
I know you really, really want it Nefesh, but is not in anyone's best interest. Not even yours

I always lift barefoot. I have been thinking of getting some shoes for when we move our "gym" out to the shop. It will probably get cold out there!

the best lift to go barefoot on is the deadlift, shorter distance to pull
