I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hi all,

I've started GOMAD today and will be using this thread to track my progress (even if no-one else is interested!).

I'm 20 years old, 5'11, weighing in at a measley 143lbs.

I will be doing GOMAD for 1 month or untill I've gained 20lbs, whichever comes first and will be sticking to my workouts religiously.

My main concern is the fact that although I am light, I have a relatively fat stomach and I'm worried that GOMAD is going to make this a lot worse.

Was also wondering if anyone could take a look at my typical diet and make any suggestions (times vary slightly each day):

Breakfast 9am - 2 eggs, 2 wholemeal toast + couple of spoons flax seed oil
Snack 11am - 1 litre whole milk
Lunch 12:30-1pm - half a can of tuna in a wrap with spinach leaves
Snack 3pm - 1 litre whole milk
4pm - other half can of tuna in a wrap / spinach leaves again
Tea 6:30pm - steak, 2 eggs, shit loada peas! + 1 litre whole milk / couple of spoons flax seed
8pm - 1 litre whole milk

Well that's about it guys, any advice would be much appreciated - you've all been a great help to me already.

So I finished my first gallon yesterday, no problems.

Eat exactly what I wrote yesterday, but then played football for a couple hours (and got a little high  ) so decided to eat a big pile of pasta & chicken as well.

Had my first litre today, went down a treat.

I've been buying 1 or 2 litres at a time, which is costing me about 80p a litre, quite expensive - thinking about compensating by quitting smoking as it costs about the same.

Does anyone (living in England) know the cheapest way to get a gallon of whole milk down me everyday?

Have to be careful this weekend as I tend to do at least GOBAD (beer) fri & sat and it messes up my eating / sleeping.

Hi Joe.

Im also around your bodyweight and will soon begin with GOMAD, so im looking forward to see you progress :)

If you are concerned about your belly fat, then you should be training hard while doing GOMAD to reduce the gain of fat while gaining weight. I did the GOMAD when I first started SL 5x5 with empty bar (for practicing form), and it turned out to gather alot of bellyfat cause I was lifting to easy. So I quit GOMAD to increase the weight. Im starting GOMAD when it gets heavy enough for me. Just a tip to reduce the fat gain while doing GOMAD.

Second, I wouldn't bother the fat gains during the gomad, its just temporary. On GOMAD your goal is to gain weight, if you gain fat you just have to get rid of it afterwards. Train hard and you will get your lean look again after alot of work.
I would gladly be fat for some time until I get in better shape again, over being skinny.

Anyways, good luck on your weight gain, looking forward to see your progress :)

Yeah I'm glad I didn't even try GOMAD until I learned how to lift heavy and proper.

Anyways, quitting smoking is a good idea on all accounts. Smoking effects performance, not just in cardiovascular/endurace persuits, but in all athletic pursuits.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies. Yea I'm not worried about fat gains anymore, dropping fat is something I've never had to do so if I have to I look forward to the challenge. As far as heavy lifting goes, my numbers aren't that high, but I started to struggle on most lifts so I figured I'd be alright to do this.

So, 5 days in and I'm experiencing the typical side effects - a few spots have appeared around my mouth, have had a dodgy stomach now and again and I can take a shit on que - but it's not enough to put me off, as they say I won't be doing this forever.

I'll be back in a few days when I've weighed myself.

Do start a log here and keep us apprised. you can put a link in your signature along with your current stats/goals as many of us do. your meal plan looks ok, but for a but for a bit more protein, add a couple more egg whites and make those half cans of tuna whole cans of tuna. also instead of killing yourself on flax seed oil, you can swap the tuna out for fish like salmon, sardines mackerel which do a good job of providing your omegas. One last thing, remember to your taking your vitamins! good luck!

Cheers Van, I'm looking at starting a long in the very near future, at the moment I just pop on here when im supposed to be working ;)
I've started having 4 eggs at breakfast now as I've found that I'm actually hungry in the mornings now - which has never been the case before.
I suppose it would make sense to swap the tuna, but I really can't tolerate mackeral / sardines at lunch time (believe me, I've tried) and it's just so much easier to prepare than salmon.
-
So I weighed myslef today - bearing in mind I'm only on my 6th gallon so it hasn't even been a week yet - just out of curiosity really. 151lbs now, so although a little inaccurate, that's a gain of 7lbs in less that 7 days. Great, but I'll have a more useful figure at the end of week 2.
-
In terms of side effects - things are getting easier now, the dodgy stomach still crops up at random points in the day, but it's far more tolerable and the risk of me shitting myslef at any moment has dropped significantly (lol). Also, spots have gone.
-
One thing I've learnt - Drink your milk after each meal. Eating a meal after a litre of milk is tough, it's much easier the other way round.

For me at least 10kilos would be great, but in order for me to lose the skinny look, I need at least to get to 70kg (currently 58kg) so with 10kilos more I'll be almost reaching my goal... :D

I just did my first session today of SL5x5...the weight felt very light, but I know I used to lift more I won't cheat so Im doing it from scratch...I was a lil' sloppy with my form on the first try on squats, but then I corrected it..

We're almost the same in weight and height, so it's gonna be awesome to see how it goes..:D good luck to u 2 bro!..kepp it up!
