I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Straps

Postby ricepower on Sat Nov 07, 2009 1:36 am

Ive had a search and noticed there arent really any threads about types of straps and how to use them.

Ive been feeling the need for some straps lately as I want to train high pulls and high rep romanian deadlifts. Ive been reading starting strength and it recommends using a type of strap which is just a plain strip of seatbelt type nylon/polyester with no looped or stitched end.

Ive never used any type of strap before but the type ive seen other people using were the type with the looped end and it seemed fairly self-explanatory how to use them. But these types which are just a strip of webbing, how on earth do you securely attach them to each hand and wind it round the barbell?

I dont quite get it and havent found any details in the book.

Any tips? I wanna try some makeshift ones tomorrow..

Page 144 of SS has a series of pictures showing how to use them. Have you looked there?
