I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Any idea on how US will be split up?

Here are my thoughts...
1. Maybe we should gather a list of US people and divide the teams depending on the number of people.
2. Determine the top X people from US and that's what will be compared to other countries.
3. Depending on how many people from each individual country, compare the top X from every country.

**I left out how to choose the top X from US and also how to compare top X from every country, which can be different methods.

**Of course, X has to be less than or equal to the country with the least number of people participating.

We can still gather a list of everyone so we have an idea of how many people are joining.
Only after that can we split up the US (ex.East/West)

Good?

I would like to suggest we have a monthly, or maybe just a midpoint, evaluation of everyone's numbers to see who is in the lead. This would not only give us an idea of where the teams are at relative to each other (and thus motivate everyone to work harder!), but it would also iron out any problems or disputes regarding how we would calculate the weights for the final tally. A dry run is never a bad idea.

Do I hear a second?

seconded.

In actual fact, I think the easiest way to keep track would be for me to take the numbers directly from training logs, sig stats or the strongest man thread, rather than wait for people to update. I might do the first scan this weekend when I have some time.

Good suggestion, mjh

That'll serve as incentive as well to keep log and/or sig updated ;)

Sorry, random comment here.

I was just thinking that UK and NZ would be at a statistical disadvantage i.e. less people/population to draw upon?

Oh no, there are lots of Brits on this site - many of them quite strong (you're one of them). On the other hand, Asia will probably take a back seat - even if the countries are densely populated, Asian population on SL site is quite thin IMO.

And there I am worrying about my belly. Guru has declared, we're all thin. Yay!

I think we're going to have a tough time finding ten people for the Asia team. Much more than five might be hard...

Is BW going to matter? I thought we're just averaging the weight lifted.
