I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hi,

Whenever I train hard (weight lighting 5x5, interval, cardio) I start to sweat in 7 minutes. After 15-20 minutes, my short, underwear, T-shirt all are completely wet and shoaked. Sweat is dripping to the floor. The towel is also completely wet when finished working out and then I start cleaning the floor dry. To compensate voor the lost minerals in the sweating I add an extra gram of salt to my post workout shake. I have the feeling that is not sufficient as with sweating also other nutritions are lost. Do you have an idea what to do to balance the enormous sweating and nutritions loss?

You can get supplimentary electrolytes (not salt) or drink gatorade or powerade, or any other sort of sports drinks with added electrolytes.

Drink a lot to avoid dehydratation and eat healthy, balance food. That will prevent any problems.

You can also try some re-hydration sachets, these have a lot of the necessary minerals and salts.

I sweat buckets as well, I reassure myself by thinking of the great Zinedine Zidane, I always remember him sweating lots. Mind you he was an athelete!

sweating a lot - nuttritiona and salt loss?

Thanks very much Mehdi for your reply! I have always been drinkign in excess of other people in my gym drink, usually between 4-5 liters water a day. Food is also balanced and healthy.

Just for comparison. my Food intake is according to the generally accepted and also by 5x5 regime suggested balanced mix of natural food of protein, carbs and healthy fat, just like I guess majority of the stronglifts readers are doing (I guess). No difference there. My water intake might be 1-2 liters higher that the rest.

But, I sweat the hell. Tasting my sweat, I notice at least salt, who knows what else valuable I am disposing with the sweat. I am not sure with the rest of the readers, but if I use the rest of the stronglift readers similar as the guys I see at the gym, out of 100 visitors only two are sweating like hell, myself included.

i already follow your advise with balanced food and a lot of water. But this regime already works for the 98% of guys not sweating that much. What about the 2% that do sweat abornally?

i always sweat a lot in the spring/summer too when working out, so don't worry about sweating. Sweating is normal. I also sweat more since I workout than the years before I worked out. And sweat is salty yes, so don't worry about that neither. if you just eat healthy and make sure you drink 1 gallon a day, you'll be ok.

Isn't sweating the body's natural way of cooling down itself?
So, are you guys saying sweating is bad? I've always been under the impression that it was good:S
