I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

The Deals are Out There

Postby Dogfish on Tue Feb 24, 2009 8:44 pm

I just picked up over 700lbs of Olympic weights and an adjustable bench w/rack, for $300. I found it through craigshelper.com. It was about an hour and a half away and I would never have found it without Craig's Helper.

The buy included:
a complete (bar & weights) 300lb Weider set. Older, all steel. Some character rust.
another 300lb set, complete, generic. Older, all steel. Great shape.
2 York 45lb plates (I'm thinking about collecting York)
an assortment of small (5lb and under) plates
an assortment of clamps (including pairs of old York clamps)

I can now use my 12-sided plates with my power rack, I can set up a DL station with round plates and I can, when the weather warms up, take a set in the back yard to learn cleans.

This should fill all my my plate needs for quite awhile.

Subtract off say $50 for the bar and clamps, and that's about $0.35/lb - pretty decent! Nice find! I do the same thing: 12 sided in the cage, bumpers and/or round plates on the lifting platform.
