I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Kid assisted pushups.--------------5,7

Did my kid assisted pushups. Son is 41lbs now. The first set was directly on on shoulder blades, maybe a little closer to my neck. The second set he was closer to my lumbar. This made it ALOT easier on my arms/chest, but a little rougher on my abs. considering the numbers, this might actually be a viable way to do them! It was hard, and my reps were low, meaning more strength. My son was wiggling around laughing, this may work my core and stabilizer muscles a bit more. It also got my 7 year old daughter in the mood to do them also. Nothing wrong with learning how to exercise at an early age!!

Getting a George Foreman style grill, an offbrand cause its cheaper, to save on washing dishes. I'll be looking around online tonight. Its a great thing for grilling chicken!!

Hey Herf,

Been checking your log since we are both around the same level, great progress. I have the same problem with forgeting which set I'm on sometimes and it's usually the bench also. I was thinking of putting some beads on a string like an abacus so I could keep track. GF grills are awesome, I'll even bring it when I travel, that way I can save money and eat healthy when traveling.

Man, I was staring at that in Walmart today. I was debating on an older cheaper GF brand name one, or a different name brand that is about the same price but has an adjustable temp and removable plates for cleaning.

That is a good idea for keeping track of sets. Something that is so simple...just counting to 5...can seem so easy to mess up!

We maybe the same in weights, but you can do dips...sigh. Oh well, I'll stick to pushups. Kids like it better anyways

I was only on it for 3 weeks, I'm going to start it back up, I really liked how I felt on it. I'm going to be a little smarter on it this time around. Carb up weekends are going to be better and try to take in the better fats. It really is noticeable on how I feel now that I'm eating carbs again. I just feel tired all the time.

Squats--------------185lbs-----5x5
OHP-----------------100lbs  -----5x5
Deads---------------185lbs-----5x5
assisted chins-----140lbs-----4,5,5

Squats went pretty well. I wore my baggy cargo shorts and made sure I went down really low. There was a dude waiting for the squat rack that said I had good form, I told him my big problem was not getting below parallel. He said I got parallel no problem, but was looking down a little in stead of straight ahead. He was right, I was focusing on hip drive and looking down a little helps. He then said keep a big chest, look straight ahead, drive with your heels. I am wondering if he reads stronglifts?? Figured he knew something about form, so I did my last set of squats and asked him to watch me. He did and I made sure I kept my head up, he said I had good form. I did shoulder dislocations between each set. I found my low bar position. It hurt like hell, it helped when I cupped the bar instead of grabbing it, meaning thumbs and fingers on same side of bar.

OHP went really well for some reason. 95lbs seemed more difficult last week than the 100lbs did today.

Deads---I really need to record myself again doing these. Right after I got done, my lower back felt a little tired. I'm sure this is because of bad form.

assisted chins---What can I say? Other than I need to buy some bands. Each time I'm trying to drop 10lbs. You cannot drop 5lbs because it does not work that way.

The dude helping me with my squats was some kid from high school. He looked about 16-17. He was also box squatting 315lbs. He was watching me and some chick his age came in the gym and gave him his phone number!! Lucky bastard haha Man, if I could relive my life, EVERYTHING I have done would be different.

EDIT: Oh yea, on the squats, the kid left 315lbs on the bar. I got under it and lifted it up off the rack. Was not as hard as I thought it would be  I really didn't want to test it out by squatting it. That would just be retarded and probably end up in the hospital with a testicle missing.

Squats---------------------190lbs--------5x5
Bench press---------------130lbs--------5x5
one arm dumbbell row----60lbs--------3x5
pushups--------------------29,31

I was really tired tonight for some reason and did not want to lift. I eeked out the squats and pretty much everything else. I felt the benches in my 5th set. Decided to drop the inverted rows. I just didn't feel like I was doing to much with them. I switched them out with one arm dumbbell rows. Starting with only 60lbs and going to try to increase it 5lbs each time. I always like doing them, and missed doing them. I felt a bit weaker in the pushups since I have not been doing them like I should have been. Took about a 10 minute break between the sets. Need to sleep...have court in the morning. If I'm late, I'm not going to be updating anytime soon

Squats
Warmup--------------135lbs--------1x10
Actual----------------195lbs--------5x5
OHP------------------105lbs--------5x5
deadlifts-------------195lbs--------2x5
assisted chins-------130lbs--------4,4,4

Squats started out strong but quickly diminished in energy. Still got them and still not really tough.

OHP-These drained me quick. Got my 5x5 but I feel a plateau coming on in about 10lbs. I say that every time, but this time I mean it!

Deads-I still think my form is off. These kicked my ass for some reason. The squats were alot easier than these tonight. I'll have to study up on the form again. Think I'm still using too much back and not enough hips.

chins-Getting there! Next time I will reduce the weight to 120. I weigh about 290 and 130lbs means I'm chinning 160lbs. Roughly, considering it is with a machine.

Squats
warmup--------------135lbs--------1x10
actual----------------200lbs--------5x5
Bench press---------135lbs--------5x5
1 arm DB row--------65lbs---------3x5

Squats were really easy tonight. I got plenty of rest, like 9 hours of sleep last night...to make up for my lack of sleep over the weekend. Felt like I could easily have put on another 50lbs.

Bench went really well also. Felt like I could have easily put on another 30-50lbs easy.

1 arm DB rows went ok. I just started these last time and trying to figure out my grove for them. Glad I did them instead of inverted rows as the gym was really busy tonight. The gym is small and there would be NO room in the smith machine to do these!

Had to watch some meathead flex in front of mirrors all night. I think he did more flexing than lifting. Was going around bragging on how he was in the 177lbs class and was getting huge. Was wearing one of those damn cut off T shirts that have like a 2 inch wide strip going from waist to neck and the same on the back. Nobody really wants to see your nipples buddy. And we can't help it because there are 10943701845 mirrors in the damn gym.

You beat me to the 200 Herf, and well done!
:)

My last squats were at 195 and I'm sure another 5 lbs would have resulted in bar on the pins.

Doh! haha I'm just waiting till I can put 4 of the 45lb plates on there! Wednesday I'm up to 2 45's and 2 35's...That is something to get excited about.

The bad thing is for me tho, is that your 170lbs and im like 290. You're over your body weight already...I still have a long ways to go. Good job tho! Keep up the good work, see if we can stay neck and neck :)

Yep, nothing like loading up the bar with Big Wheels! Save the quarters (25s), dimes (10s), and nickels (5s) for the girlie men and squat rack curlers! :)

Which reminds me, since I'm such a widebody, I'm gonna need another pair of 45s for my home gym soon if I ever hope to reach bodyweight squats, much less 1.5xBW. Sigh.

Stay under the bar!

Squats
Warmup---------------135lbs-----1x10
Actual------------------205lbs-----5x5
OHP--------------------115lbs-----5x5
Deadlifts
Warmup---------------135lbs-----1x5
Actual------------------205lbs-----5x5
assisted chins---------120lbs-----4,3,3

Squats were about average. Getting tough, but can still add some more weight.

OHP were a BITCH, almost thought I was going to puke on the last set during the last rep.

Deads...still felt a little sick to my stomach from the OHP but overall they went decently. Think I had better form this time, seeing as how I did a warmup and paid real close attention to form.
