I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Absolutely nailed 52.5kg today!

It actually felt easy! The only difference was that because the racks were being used I cleaned the bar from the floor for the first time. I always thought this would make the lifts harder due to wasted energy, but it actually made the weight feel lighter once in the OHP starting position. I thoroughly recommend trying it if you haven't before. I won't be going back to the rack that's for sure!

does 3 x 5 count? I don't do 5 x 5 OHP. If it does, 60kg.

The Goal: To reach 70kg 5x5 for the Overhead Press

It occured to me that we might have to make this 3x5 as we'll probably be doing this on most of our other lifts by that time. (Personally, I expect to be squatting 130kg+ at about the time I reach 70kg on my OHP, and I don't think I will be doing that 5x5!)

I have already moved to 3x5 for my lifts. The aim was to keep it in line with what people were doing on Stronglifts and as Dylanamus said, 70kg 3x5 should cover the majority of people.

@RobCosimo - added you to the ranking.
adrianb looks dangerously close to being the first one to achieve this. Great effort! :D

I attempted 50kg on Friday for the first time. What a mistake-a to make-a! Faaaaar too heavy. Managed 1/2/1/1/2 with 5 minute rests. I'm sure I'll get it next time...no hang on, who am I kidding! If I can manage more than 7 reps from 5 sets that'll be progress.

Hey markg, I've been there, done that haha Even when I get 5 reps on the first and second set, I sometimes pray that I will fail the 3rd/last set becuase I know a weight increase will be suicide.

The trouble for me is, "failure is not an option" is an automatic override in my psyche, so I only fail if the lift was impossible at the time, hence the seemingly ilogical prayer.

You committed OHP suicide going up to 50kg 5x5 despite your prior success hehe. It will be interesting to see how many reps you can add on the second attempt. You've got balls to give it a go again instead of deloading or even reducing sets. Now that's the spirit needed for OHP!

I'm knocking on the door of the >55 club.

4,4,4,4,4

1st attempt. Strangely I didn't drop off on the last couple of sets. I actually felt more comfortable with the weight. I almost did 5 on the last!

Thanks dylanamus. I think I must have balls for brains but I'll keep battling on. Three attempts then deload, not sure where I go that rule from

Gonna switch to 3x5 after the next deload so that will be a welcome relief.
