I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

This started as a friendly challenge from nburge on my log, as he saw what my goal was for this year. markg naturally couldn't help himself, and added to the mix and as the three of us were all at about 42.5kg, we were up for it. Since then others have expressed interest, and this seems to be growing, so I thought it best to start a separate post - Poor old excylist has had his log filled recently with our rantings!

The Goal: To reach 70kg 3x5 for the Overhead Press
Who: Anyone who's OHP is currently under 50kg
Beware: Friendly 'sledging' (Particularly from the British contingent )

The Goal: To reach 70kg 5x5 for the Overhead Press

It occured to me that we might have to make this 3x5 as we'll probably be doing this on most of our other lifts by that time. (Personally, I expect to be squatting 130kg+ at about the time I reach 70kg on my OHP, and I don't think I will be doing that 5x5!)

Woo-hoo! A race I can enter! Naturally I'm in - current 5x5 OHP PR 47.5kgs

Ideally I aim to raise 70kgs 5x5, but happy to race to 3x5 if people prefer.... bring it on!
2010 Goals:
Lose the Gut - 6 pack by 11/4/10 - it's a bet with the missus
100kgs clean and jerk by 24/3/10
80kgs snatch by 30/06/10
Be more dedicated

Howdi folks. Sledging eh? That's a new term for me to learn; I thought I was just taking the p...!

My current PR is 45kg 5x5
Have had about 10 days off the iron but will be attempting 47.5kg tonight...<gulp>
I'm particularly worried as nburge tells me that 12stone 6lbs is the worst bodyweight for OHP'ing...

I have already done 70kg in an NRM test (no rep max). Was surprisingly easy. 5x5 shouldn't be too far away :)

Good luck guys.

Got the SS DVD yesterday and immediately watched the OHP section!
Did 45kg again today, but practiced breathing at lock out, and had it sussed by the 4th set. Definitely up for 47.5kg next week!

47.5kg 5x5 :D
That was f**king heavy! Definitely some hyperextension in the back, and some reps were slow, so will be doing that weight again (two more times!)

That's assuming that gravity is the same strength down there, Thun...I've heard it's way weaker... :)

Thanks for the luck Gg. Be sure to let us know when you smash through 70kg, anyhow, as I'm sure you will do before long.

Guys, count me in too. My current PR is 47.5Kg. Tried 49 last week and got 3,5,5,3,2 so will be trying this again in a couple of days.
Does anyone feel 70Kg could take a while? Maybe we should race to 65Kg. I dont know, 70 kg just sounds too far away. Like six months too far away. Maybe I am wrong.
Current
Squats: 3X5 - 99Kg, DL: 1X5 - 98Kg, BP: 5X5 - 62Kg, OHP: 5X5 - 49Kg

Mid Term Goals - By 31st Oct 2009
Squats: 135Kg, DL: 160Kg, BP: 95Kg, OHP: 70Kg
