I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Thigh chafing

Postby vibragreen on Sun Nov 01, 2009 8:01 pm

I really need help with this. It's become more than a simple nuisance. As most people here I've enjoyed considerable gains mostly in my legs and thighs. My legs are getting well shaped, muscled, and I am very happy with my progress. Except for the detail of chafing. My thighs now touch and rub together when I walk. I also live in a very hot tropical climate. I'm also a pretty hairy guy. So sweat plus hair plus big thighs rubbing against eachother. It's hell basically and I need something to help.

Advice? I am sure some others have had this problem.

Shaving would be temporary solution. And imagine when stubble starts growing. Good lord, it would be like throwing needles between your legs. A living hell. So far I have been cowboy walking. It's ridiculous! I am hoping my skin just adapts after time. Similarly to how your hands stop callusing and breaking from lifting the bar.

When does this happen?! I still have a weekly broken callus peeling session on sundays after lifting for 2 years.. They're always back on wednesday though..

Found a solution. To anyone else who has this problem, use a bit of baby powder on the soar spots. It reduces friction and feels nice.

As for the calluses, I've been working out for less than a year and my hands don't callus as much as they used to. Every so often I peel one off. Maybe it's because my lifts aren't as heavy as most people here. My deadlift is only 200lbs.

Seriously, wear boxer briefs. You don't want your legs to get callused, hard skin.

The baby powder will help once the legs are sore, but with boxer briefs they won't be sore to begin with.
I buy fish oil, not snake oil.

Boxer briefs are the best.

Just make sure they're white - other colours just don't work.
