I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. :lol: But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Mouse;

Great squats there man, you can be proud. I don't have time to read through your entire log right now, but I think I'll start following yours first.

That is, if you don't mind ofcourse. :wink:

No probs Avenge - good to have to back on board
Stick with it.
I read your long post from today - just a thought but if motivation/consistency is an issue - why not plan to do 8 weeks strictly with SL, diet etc and then have a week off - then come back to it. Then it's not a never ending road.
Sometimes time off is training too.

Thanks brother, I appreciate it. ;)

Yeah, I've been thinking about that too. However, in 3/4 weeks I'll be a week on vacation, so that might be an issue. However, I'm trying to plan things more ahead of me now. I'm already looking up if they have a gym there, so that I at least can do my work-outs properly.

I'm just thinking more and more;

Suck it up, just train. And hell, maybe that is the only road for me. I already learned tremendously about myself so thats also worth a lot. And guys like you, hell, you motivate the fuck out of me. I want to squat so much too! ;)

Nice big pile of fat squats, Mouse. That's the top of a HUGE pyramid!
Ah, the OHP has shown its other face to you, too, huh? Yeah, the shock of losing hard-fought gains on this lift can be such a slap.
You must have been ticked about those DLs, but you'll be back to rip them up. You know it.

Mouse-

Some days you're the hammer and some days you're the nail...

At least you kicked the Squat squarely in the arse.

Oi Mouse !
What do I see here ?

That's not the way to reach the target, is it ?
Was it grip ? Form ? Heat perhaps ? Or general feeling for the day ?

I notice you are not doing a lot of assisting exercises, are you ?
One thing I can tell from doing Coan/Phillipi for deadlifts is that it puts a lot of focus on high volume with a lower weight to build a solid base. It also contains a LOT of assisting exercises the first week.
From there you can peak higher.
I know it is subjective but my last session 160kg, even if only for 2 reps, felt like a walk in the park. Because of the assisting exercises ? Not sure, but I like to think it is.

BTW Curls ? You gotta be kidding me ...

Sometimes the iron just wants to have it's way. It happens more so in the case of OHP, but I have seen it happen on the squats & deadlifts too...and it's hard to take - at least at that time. I'm sure this will pass, & your next DL workout will flatten the iron.

@H

Assistance stuff.
Dips I do with the WOs.
Chins and pulls - well I tend to do these daily so haven't been posting numbers.
May start doing press ups daily as well.

Training at home, I cant do thing like face pulls, pull throughs etc
I'm going to start doing Farmers walks around the garden (does that count as cardio as well !!) and I really need to make TGUs more regular.

Lack of focus I think - psyched up for squats and nothing else I guess.
Felt wasted and was late into the garage - even the squirrells were packing up to go home - not sure the large steak I had for tea had settled either.

Next time

Press - after recent success - this was hard to take - especially not even getting 5 in the first set
DL - absolute rubbish - totally disgusted with my dismal performance - so much so, I did 3x8 curls because I am so pathetic

If I had a birch stick i'd beat myself with it - not even room in this post for a smilie

Mouse, don't beat yourself up - I can't even dream of squatting your numbers yet. Focus on that!

Maybe you could do SLDL or goodmornings as assistance ( unless you do and I've missed it) I've never seen a big deadlifter that didn't do at least one of these. It would mean cycling your deadlift though rather than going for linear progress, so you need to decide when this would be right to do.
Male 37 - 5'9" - 240lb.
Deadlift 600+
Squat 500+
Pess 315 (on a good day)
Bench 450+
these numbers will go up

Thanks Jim - been thinking of incorporating some extras recently.
Still planning on Korte's 3x3 for after my trip to NY for an 8 week run and will more than likely look to 5/3/1 or similar after that.
Or I may just have to study your log in a bit more depth to come up with something :mrgreen:

Hey Mouse, still reading your log (about 20 pages in), but I'm really enjoying it. Inspiring work, and lots of useful information, too. That PR deadlift on May 18th was really nice, and I am glad to find out I'm not the only one who huffs and carries on like that before attempting a PR. :) Jim's comment about how fickle it seems a heavy DL pull can be is reassuring, too. That would drive me crazy when one week a weight would go up pretty easy, and the next week I might as well be tugging on a boat mooring. Congrats on the 140!
