I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Richie Patterson seems to do it as part of his jerks.

A jerk is not a press, and I sure don't see a thumbless jerk or press in that video.

Hi Gents
Just my two cents, I was pleasantly surprised tonight when I used thumbless grip on my OHP. I find the bar tends to sit quite near my fingers no matter how hard I grip it, and I've been struggling a bit once I put a big plate on the bar, but this certainly did bring it nearer the heel with, to my relief, no noticable effect on the stability of the bar. My weights are pretty modest but 60kg went up very smoothly for 5 tonight.
I'm doing Wendler's 5/3/1 at the moment and doing quite well on it, this topic interested me when I saw the thread on the Wendler seminar (thanks for that) so I thought, what the heck, I'll give it a go. It didn't kill me and I think it helped, YMMV.
Cheers and happy lifting
