I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Training Log Subjects: Order

Postby Mehdi on Thu Jul 30, 2009 11:29 am

Training Logs are some of the most updated lots. Some members have subject lines which make it looks like threads, instead of training log. Guidelines say to use username + training logs. Stuff like "new beginning" or "quest to strength" makes it look as if it's a question not a log.

I've edited subject lines of several logs to username + training + log. I'm ok if it's username + training + log then something else afterwards (like year of log if you had a previous one before, or something short about the goal, whatever). But please keep the username + training + log format so we can see the difference between training logs and other threads when using view new posts button at the top.

Another thing while we're at it. The view new posts easily counts 3 pages of new stuff every 24h. As traffic increases, that will continue. I'm thinking of separating the training logs from the view new posts. Let me know what you think.

Thanks!

Sounds good to me... does that mean we'd have "View new posts' and "Updated training logs" or something like that?

I could come up with something like that yes.

So that explains it. Sorry. And, thanks.

Cool idea. I can definitely see the smarts in that.
No, I don't want to be stronger than you; that would be too easy. Now, to be stronger than I was yesterday? Yes, that's more challenging.

I agree, not seeing training logs under 'view new posts' would be a good thing, especially if there was also a 'view updated training logs' link.

Thanks Mehdi!

Thanks Mehdi!

I agree, and thanks for the change, now I don't have to check for sub-forum training logs with some of the more obscure headings.

Maybe you can divide the training logs into beginner intermediate and advanced so it could be easier for us to browse what we're interested in. There are so many training logs that I don't even bother looking through them at all even though I'd like to. Or maybe you can make a thread which is especially for people who want to find "training buddies" so users can interact with each others log. I'd like to follow other beginners logs so we can compare progress and encourage each other but I wouldn't know where to look.

This could be tough to do. Beginner/intermediate/advanced are very nebulous descriptions. It would be a near herculean task deciding who fits each description.

This could work theoretically. You could start this thread yourself. Each post could have the poster's stats such as height/weight/goals/lifts/et cetera and a link to their log. You can look for similar stats to yours and check them out. I will offer this though: You will lose something by not interacting with lifters that are at different levels. I may not need the same programming that RBTrout does, but I still learn a lot by reading his log.

Seperate search functions sounds good. However, if in the meantime you would like to change my log name, feel free, Mehdi.
