I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

I know all about the showers I've been doing those for years when i'm sore. They are nice. I think i'm just starting to get to the point where squats won't be the easy part of the workout anymore. Kinda sad , but also awesome.

'That which does not kill you, makes you stronger.' Squats are probably the most difficult lift in the routine, but I take more pride out of those numbers than all the others combined. :D Keep it up!

Great squats and rows! And you'll get the bench next time - sometimes that happens. Yes, squats will get more challenging since you do them so often and keep adding weight. And that is when the real fun begins. :D Good progress!
I will climb the mountain. They've told me it's too high, it's too steep, it's too rocky, it's too difficult. But it's my mountain. I will climb it. You'll soon see me waving from the top...and until I reach the peak, I'm not coming back. - Jim Rohn

Workout #8

Ok so today felt pretty good. I argued with myself for about an hour and a half before dragging myself to the gym. When I got there I saw one of my friends and he was in the squat rack so I did squats with him. That was a pleasant surprise. It made the squats seem easier.

Squats 185lbs 5x5

OH Press 105lbs 5/5/3/3/2
I deloaded today to work on form more. At this weight I can use the right form but it seems still don't have the endurance to finish the later sets. I think I'm gonna drop another 5 and I should be able to get that up. I can definitely tell the form is better now though. I feel it more in my shoulders than I used to.

Deadlift 245lbs 1x5
Its gotten to the point where my thumbs can't hang on to the bar in the last reps so it ends up barely hanging on my fingers as I lower it past my knees. Feels great to move that much weight though.

Chin ups Negatives until I didnt want to do anymore. I threw in a couple pull up negatives too just because I like to see improvement on those too.

So that was workout 8 aside from the OH it was a good day. I am starting to get frustrated with that lift though. I love the lift but its really annoying to not see improvement there. I'll just keep on pushing and sooner preferably to later I'll be working my way up to 135 on OH press.

Keep going mate!

Know what you mean about the OH press lol, it's just a fun exercise to lift a weight above your head. However the amount of stalls (& in my case weight drops) can get really annoying. If you are finding the later sets hard how about taking some more rest time for them?

Great workout! Fantastic deadlift - what kind of grip are you using? Don't want the thumbs to lose their grip on the bar and have the bar slip out of your hands! The OHP is hard for EVERYONE. But, your numbers there are really good. Maybe, as jj123 said, taking longer rest time between the final sets will make all the difference.

I think jj123 is probably right, I wasn't resting more than a minute and 15s or so for any of the exercises. The deadlift I'm using the standard both hands over the bar. I am going to have to switch now though with the 255lb attempt coming up this weekend. I know my legs and back can do it so as long as my grip holds I'll be able to lift it.

Probably time to change to a mixed grip for deadlifts, dude. Just make sure to switch the over/under hand on alternating sets. Don't remember where I heard that from, maybe Medhi's blog. It does make a pretty big difference when the weight gets above 200lbs though.

Way to grunt it out on the chin negatives. They're just a bummer but at some point they do pay off. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

Looking pretty good, man.

Ok sorry for the long wait I had midterms and didn't find the time to lift.
Workout #9

Squats 185lbs 5x5 (didn't have 2.5 lbs plates at my house.)
Bench 145 lbs 5x5
Row 145 lbs 5x5

Everything went fairly well. The squats tired me out though.

School comes first, man. But looks like even after the break you're still doing pretty good. Hopefully the squats left you with a 'good' tired.

Glad to see you back at it, man. Keep it up!

Good luck with midterms treunlneiss. Glad to see you back and "at 'em". Great numbers and yeah, at that squat weight, I'd be tired, too! :D
