I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Trouble sleeping on training days?

I've noticed that I often have a difficult time getting to sleep on days that I train. When I try to lay down and sleep, I can feel my pulse racing and blood pressure up...it's like my body thinks it still needs to be ready to fight or something. Very annoying, because that night after training is when my body needs sleep the most!!!

Anyone else had this problem?

Yes.
It's not cool.

Doubt it's blood pressure, body just feels a little hyperactive. Some nights I only get 4-5 hours sleep because of it. I have always been naturally prone to sleep late and get up late (3am -11am feels very natural to me). But because of work I have to get up at 7. On training nights I rarely manage to sleep before 3, leaving me 4 hours to sleep. On resting days it's much easier to sleep, so I'm usually able to sleep before 1am. I'm not sure what can be done, hopefully it will just adapt as we carry on strength training.

How close to bedtime do you train? I find if an intense training session ends within a few hours of bed, I have trouble falling asleep.

Same here. Very late has always felt most natural to me. On days that I don't lift, I try to sleep 1-8am.

On workout days, I would love to be able to sleep 12-8am. I usually train about 7-8pm, leaving me 4 hours before I'd _like_ to go to sleep. Maybe I should experiment with taking melatonin to see if I can get to sleep easier...
