I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

this is a question that i've always wondered about. What do all of those guys on magazine covers etc. with the amazing abs look like when they aren't flexing/airbrushed?

Does anyone have pictures of unflexed ripped abs or are they nonexistent? Please don't just say "well my abs are always visible" etc. without some sort of proof.

Thanks

Pic of stoistov isn't posing, he's preparing for a snatch (or clean).

Didn't understand original question hence my reply, don't know why you care about the abs of someone else.

well i am wondering if i get my abs strong enough, and my body fat % low enough will my abs be fully visible all the time? or is it something with genetics, or is it completely impossible? Would it be healthy to maintain this state?

as i am currently i only have faint definition when not flexing.

Yes. Just like you would see your quads/arms/etc without any need of flexing.

thanks for the reply, do you have any pictures for reference of what this looks like? The majority of photos have been retouched or have flexing subjects, hence my original confusion

Just get stronger & eat clean, you'll see it with your own eyes ;)

thanks mehdi for your reply, I know aesthetics are not your primary goal, and they aren't mine either, but i'm a curious person, and this is a question i have been wondering for a while.

=The real reason why you are "curious".

Look, say it if you want your abs to be on par with a cheese grater. That's cool. Deep down, there are probably quite a lot of people here than want the 6,8 pack or whatever and to show it off at the beach. Not to say that is their primary goal, because I assume everyone here is on the quest for functional strength. Still, you can bake a cake; no harm putting icing on top.

But jokes aside, I meant this: why do you care if someone does not offer you concrete, forensic standard proof? You just want to know if it is possible, right? But now that it is clear that your question is not academic, why not try to explore your limits yourself. Aim for super low BF; work your core big time. Then, who knows?

I do care about aesthetics, couldn't live with a beer gut. I just don't freak about it or spend time before the mirror. The promise of this site is to build muscle & lose fat through strength training. you'll get your abs if you get stronger & eat healthy.

its true that i would like my abs to be always visible all the time, but some things just arent possible. I wasnt sure if it was, so i asked here. However we are on the internet, and when people start to exaggerate who would know the difference. For example i could change my lifting stats to whatever i want and act like a professional powerlifter under the guise of the computer.

asking for a picture is hardly forensic evidence, but its just a little verification that the poster isnt pulling shit out of their ass.

and thanks mehdi for the encouragement.
