I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

All the videos were great but the snatch vid was just ridiculous. Effortless. Good lord.

That kid sure is built under the lard; impressive shoulders and arms, there.

There's an interview with his coach here. It's really interesting how they train. Only 6 lifts: (power) clean & jerk, (power) snatch, and front and back squats, no other assistance exercises or flexibility work, twice a day seven days a week.

Good stuff, but again that noise as he descents into the squat. What is that noise! That pop! I'm intrigued, does anyone know? Is it his knee?

I read that, but it doesn't sound like any kind of noise a human being could produce orally. :)

In that last vid, play seconds 6 to 7. Definitely breath forced out between the lips; much clearer on this than on the previous ones. You can see him puffing his cheeks up as he preps.

I wonder how he eats.

Is it good to train 2 x a day 7 days a week? I'm quitting 5x5 then!! :)

I'm guessing everything in sight!

And lifting that often is fine if you have a coach who knows what he's doing and an athlete willing to do what that type of training requires in terms of effort, consistency, and recovery. It certainly ain't for everyone, that's for sure...

That's an Olympic squat, too. Kid's back is practically vertical the whole time. Incredible power on that last push. Damn.

is Oly style squat different from what we are supposed to do?
actually, are we supposed to do some specific SL type squat? :)

i try to squat the hardest way possible (more gains, right?) - for me its back straight, roll the barbel back a little when ascending so i don't fall forward and i can push from my heels.
