I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Bump.
Bumping because I have one of the least mysterious usernames on the entire forum but there's a bunch of you out there whose names do intrigue me. Although I'm a little scared to hear some of the explanations, if they are forthcoming.

I was going to go with my first name when I signed up ("paul"), but it was taken. I was apparently drawing a creative blank that day, so I went with what my wrestling coach used to call me ("muddy" as in "muddy waters" the musician). That's partly a play on my last name, and partly because I was blaring "Hootchie Cootchie Man" in the training room during pre-season one day, and it was driving the coach a little nuts. In retrospect, "muddy" makes no sense outside of that, and I wish I'd taken something else. Oh well.

Mine is a juxtaposition of the norse word "hrossvalr" for "walrus", meaning "horse-whale". There are a couple of reasons for this; It describes my build, "I am the walrus" is my favourite Beatles song, I like to eat fish, and also walruses are awesome. Oh, and I'm half Swedish.

@muddy: so often people' real life nick names come about in a similar way. Some weird moment, someone says something, and it sticks... forever. I have a friend who did a perfect Mr Bean impression 20 years ago, and sure enough, he is still widely known only as Bean.

My son's name is Nick. The neighbor girl started calling him 'nickles pickles'. He was 9 months old at the time. He's now 7 & I still call him Pickles. The other day he told me not to call him that. So I asked what he wanted to be called. He said "Rex". I laughed my ass off. (& still call him Pickles)
