I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

I agree with all that has been said above. However, for me, this site is all about the community. I think this has been particularly important for me as I train alone in a foreign country where very few people understand what I'm saying or doing. I speak basic Chinese but it's not extensive enough to discuss form issues and that's assuming anybody in my gym knew anything other than BB routines (watching them, I doubt it). Therefore, the 'virtual training partners' on this site have provided the advice, encouragement and motivation that I've needed. I truly would not have got this far without you and I thank you all for it.

I think you got that wrong Mark. It's not taking foreign credit cards it's taking credit cards from foreign people.

I like stronglifts because I wanted to do something authentic with my fitness. Rather than the usual narcissistic rubbish that gets thrown around with a lot of young guys, stronglifts and strength training was about goal setting, achievement and authenticy. I like the site because Mehdi in his articles and forum comments is straightforward, encourages personal learning and is not dogmatic in his views. An abundance of straightforward instructions on exercise technique is invaluable to a begginer.

For a while, I actually could not believe that this site was giving me such great information without making me pay first.
And then for another long while, I could not believe that this stuff works, and that you can see it working.
I'm wrapping up my third week and my clothes fit differently already.

Praise the lord.

I'm sure the lack of dumbasses and their commentary, combined with real useful, supportive advice and information, comes directly from the very FACT that Stronglifts is a way of lifting that isn't about being BIG, it is about being STRONG. The greater part of the simple minded, shallow people, just concerned and obsessed with being big won't come here or at least STAY here, this isn't their cup of tea. You see Stronglifts is for the smart people, who really care more about quality, not quantity. ;-) I'm new here and I can see this fact clearly and THAT is why I've stayed and will institute this routine into my life...a woman who has never lifted a single free weight in her life.

SL is the first online weightlifting community I've found that seems to attract a majority of smart people.

The very first thing? Go to the bathroom  Then it's eat 1/2cup cottage cheese mixed with yogurt (260Cals 22g protein) followed by 12oz whole milk. Best way to ensure I start my day off right!

In a word? everything. Collegial forums, love of iron, no flamers, just ppl who get "it". Kudos Medhi, a remarkable achievement of getting the internet to live up to its intended purpose of being a repository for all to share and benefit from. All we need is some porn on here and we've covered the 2nd major internet use as well
Look forward to talking to you all, Filth.

Yesterday, one of the trainers who was on duty in our school's weight room came over to me and she gave me a huge compliment about how I had really good deep squat form (people squat above parallel here) and asked me where I learned to squat.

Thank you Stronglifts
