I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

What music do you listen to while you're working out?

I don't usually listen to music while working out, but I think I'll start.

Here are a few bands that will go into my playlist:
Mastodon ('The Wolf is Loose' and 'Blood and Thunder' is a great pump-up song)
Audioslave (lot's of good really driving guitars etc.)
RATM (must-have)
Goose
The Strokes
Korn (not a real fan, but the song Blind is a great pump-up)
Slipknot (again, not a fan, but they have some great workout songs)

What music do you listen to while you're working out?

Postby GenGau on Fri Jan 11, 2008 8:48 pm

When lifting, I listen to something with a fast beat. A lot of times it's music I wouldn't even consider listening to outside the gym, but if it has a fast, heavy beat, I'll listen to it.

For cardio, I'll listen to audio books (currently listening to Ken Follett's 'Eye of the Needle')

If you're like me, you have some music that is too soft and other THAT YOU THINK WILL BLOW YOUR EARDRUMS it's so loud. If you have this problem too, check out MP3Gain (free program).

Wide range.  It depends on the mood that day and what I feel will get me focused.  I've listened to metal or classic.  But its usually something that gets me pumped like Du Hast (Ramstein), Don't Push Me (50Cent), Benassi etc.

What music do you listen to while you're working out?

I listen to the voices in my head.

They keep saying "Push that next rep out with form"

I couldn't do it without them

I listen to;

Death & Resurrection Show - Killing Joke
Time's Up - Living Colour
Eagle Spread - The White Room (my old band - a dirty song about dirty women)
McFearless - Kings of Leon
Be Safe - The Cribs
Aerials - System of a Down
Tommy Gun - The Clash
Sky Starts Falling - Doves
Wardance - Killing Joke
Grapes of Wrath - Spear of Destiny
Resurrection Joe - The Cult
The Fly - U2

....and loads of other shit...

Music stirs emotions in all of us all in different ways. These songs represent moments in my life (being in a band, getting pissed/stoned for the first time, getting married, getting divorced, getting pissed & stoned even more, single life, getting married again, recording an album and touring, growing up, having kids, starting a healthier lifestyle etc etc) that trigger aggression or a sense of accomplishment/pride. The song may not be particularly upbeat but it stirs something inside that makes you want to do the best at whatever you are doing at that time.

Pop music (and that covers grunge, metal, RnB, indie, disco or whatever the music press call the various genres this month) is an art-form. If a song makes someone happy or inspires someone then it's positive no matter what it sounds like to anyone else. It's all relative. :D

I've stopped listening to music while lifting at the moment. When I was, The Rollins Band was my favourite music to lift weights to. Hank's intensity can be quite motivational at time. "Weight" and "Nice" will get you going.

I only ever really like listening to something new, but Ive listened to most my music to death. If I have something interesting/fresh and lively Ill try listen to that. But the gym usually has loud radio playing so I cant hear it properly anyway.

So most times its nothing!

I may try audio books, I spend so much of my time lifting It would be good to get some mental stimulation.
