I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

How do you punch yourself holding a barbell?

Myself, probably trying to put too heavy a bar on my shoulders for squatting (no rack) missing, getting it on my neck. Neck felt pretty bad for a day or two.

Missing depth on a squat rep and going back down to get it before I finish the rep.

when i first started bench pressing i moved the bar to about 2/3 inchs off my chest and then back up again. someone told me i was doing it wrong and then someone else said it was okay 'because i have long arms'

then i decided to google it.

dumbest thing i've ever done is at my college gym, where they have no collars for some god forsaken reason, i cleaned what i was rowing up off the floor to put it onto the rack except i was kinda tired and one side came up before the other... then plates started sliding and i tried to counter but it was pretty much useless, then they fell off and the other side plumeted sending the empty half of the bar flying up into the air before those weights slid off. Thankfully it was like 730 in the morning and there was only like 2 people in the gym but holy cow that made a lot of noise. lol

Forgot to put stoppers on the barbell, with 2x20 plates loaded on each side.

When the plates slipped off and fell to the floor, I swear to God I think I lost some of my hearing.
It was like having a 9mm firing off next to your ear. OUCH!

When I learned to squat for the very first time about a year ago, I used the fixed-weight barbells because the bar was too heavy. I used 40 pounds to squat. The problem was that I couldn't lift the barbell off my head after I finished squatting. I did some interesting maneuvering that day! People saw me trying to get away from the barbell in a ridiculous fashion.

I would always unload one side of the bar and then the other. When I hit 280, and unloaded on side everything seemed fine. I went around to the other side and began to remove the weight. When I got the 25lb plate to the end of the bar the unloaded side came up and over the rack and just missed me but made one hell of a noise. It happened so fast there was no time to react. I keep one 45lb plate on the far side when I empty the bar now.

When I was going for a one rep max on squats, I stepped too far back, and when I couldn't get back up, only one end of the bar caught the safety pins, so the other end crashed me into the floor and made a very loud noise. Luckily no one was there and I was injury free but I could have been seriously hurt.

Tripped over bench holding 120lbs worth of dumbbells. Big noise, everybody looked.

Failed a bench with no spotter and had to roll the bar off my body.

Pinned myself with squats that were way to heavy at the time.

Thinking that deadlifts were, literally, a lower back exercise. Used only my lower back to pull the weight up. Hurt lower back for weeks.

SO many more mistakes. But learned from all of them!
