I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

What's your poorest lift?

Hey guys, I'm trying to find out in which lift people tend to have the hardest time. :) Not the lowest weight, but the overall progress, as in how many times you've stalled and how it compares to your other lifts.

Mine is bench press. I've been stuck on 140lbs for one month while adding weights to all my other lifts.

Bench press as well, gets difficult for me when I can't get a proper hand off.

For me it's rows. Somehow I've been able to progress well on the deadlift but poorly on the rows.

Technically it's the bench press, as getting bar path/elbow position/leg drive on it was tough for awhile, but since I never really gave much of a shit about the bench it didn't cause me grief. It's better than it's ever been technique wise now, at least.

But while I never had much trouble with squat progress, I always feel like something is wrong. It's like trying to fix up your house, haha. It's definitely the most demanding lift in the sheer sense of thought that goes into every rep.

I think I might think about my squat form as much as I think about getting laid. Is that wrong?...

I'm with you on the squat form MikeD! Takes a lot to believe you are actually getting more reps right than wrong and even then the 'right' ones aren't necessarily perfect.

The house analogy works for me :)

If I had more confidence in my form and leg strength I'd put my squat weights up a lot quicker.

My other lifts are slowly going up but squats get my vote, being the slowest.

OHP for me. My bench has slowed a bit recently, but proportionally it's still pretty high. OHP I just can't seem to get past 100-110lbs.

Was the bench press by a country mile, i guess it still is. However i've had a lot more progress recently by listening to something Prof X on TNation said about pre fatiguing a muscles.

The poll is the exact opposite of my experience. For a while I could Squat more than I could deadlift, Rows have never really worked for me and Cleans I still suck at. The rest I've been making good progress at.

Wow, I thought everyone would say OHP. For me it's the bench, but that's because I didn't do the OHP for a while along with SQ and DL. I had a tough time at 140lbs on the BP but I figured out the correct form now, so it will probably be the OHP soon.

OHP. Mainly because it's hard to do technical-wise.

Deadlift is a close second. Havn't given my legs a good workout on these in ages....

Progression-wise, it's gotta be the rows. Which is strange because I used to do close-grip cable rows in a former lifting life, and that was always my most powerful lift. After that and still before SL I did DB rows, and, again, probably my best lift proportionally. But for some reason, barbell rows stink.

Technique-wise, squat and bench--the latter mainly because I'm half-assed about perfecting my form, the former because, as has been mentioned, every time I have something fixed I realized I've lost hold of something else. Every rep is an attempt to keep it all together.
