I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

For people in the UK, I'd recommend: http://www.powerhouse-fitness.co.uk/

Also, it is worth emailing them to see if they can do a deal, I managed to save over £100 doing this.

Try this email: nottingham@powerhouse-fitness.co.uk

Tnx. What did you buy from them? They have really cheap racks, but you got to watch with how much it can handle. http://www.powerhouse-fitness.co.uk/bod ... r-rack.php => really cheap and looks good, but only handles 180kg, wasted money in the long-term.

I can name these two German shops, although I haven't bought there personally. Found them searching for an olympic barbell set, read lots of positive reviews. They had the cheapest sets (140kg for 260€), however, the bars can only handle 200/250kg.

bought my Ivanko Supergripper from Bill Ennis' http://www.wwfitness.com/ - fast and cheap shipping, quick and good contact.

In the UK, I have had good service from

http://www.pullum-sports.co.uk/
http://www.fitness-superstore.co.uk/

I got the powertec rack from fitness superstore, and from Pullum I got york bumper plates, an eleiko training bar, and micro plates down to 0.25 kg. Pullum also carries a lot of books including Rippetoe's.

my gear came from the below. with a few noted exceptions, i would recommend any/all of it:

http://muscledriverusa.com : pendlay bar, rings, bumpers (i have WFW, but the hitemp have a good rep too), kettlebells (grey v2). it's minor, but their spring collars are the nicest spring collars I've used.

(The Rogue and the B&R bars both look nice on paper and people say nice things about them, but I've never had a chance to try them.)

http://www.rubbermats.com : horse mats cut to size for a lifting platform and shipped for relatively cheap compared to anywhere else I could find.

http://craigslist.com : the place to get olympic plates cheap, imho

http://elitefts.com : rack, ghd, reverse hyper, squat box. their texas power bar is ok, nothing exciting imho. it's also not suitable for olympic lifts (screw ends). if you get the rack, whatever model you get, call and ask for the powdered j hooks. their other style will rip up knurling on your bar at a quick pace. i'd also recommend the quick release spot pins instead of their pipe and rod system, which is damn inconvenient. otherwise, the rack is amazing. i sold myself on the rh for our gym after i had a chance to use one for a week when visiting a university campus for work.

http://ironwoodyfitness.com : bands, fractional plates. their bar is ok. again, i would go with pendlay.

http://www.concept2.com : model D rower. this thing kicks ass. it is not your grandma's treadmill or stairmaster. you can destroy yourself on this thing in < 8 minutes.

In New Zealand, I've got my equipment from the following NZ sites:

http://www.getstrength.com : They sell pretty much all the typical weight lifting stuff but also other training equipment such as kettlebells, Iron Woody bands, weight lifting shoes, chalk, etc.

http://www.pulsept.co.nz/Foam-Rollers.394.0.html : Found this place that sells foam rollers. If you're in Wellington, send them an email and organize a pickup to save on shipping.

http://www.reactiv.co.nz/Pure_NZ_Whey : Plain NZ-made whey. No sugars, flavouring, etc. It's pretty much the cheapest stuff I've found and you get a good discount if you purchase in bulk. They sell other supplements, like Casein, but haven't tried that.

http://www.myopure.com.au/accumeasure.html : Accumeasure caliper. It's an Australian store but couldn't find it here. Occasionally saw it on Trademe but goes fast

Mehdi,

I bought this rack: http://www.powerhouse-fitness.co.uk/bod ... t-rack.php

Mainly because space was limited so couldn't fit a power cage in my garage. It allows me do squat and bench, and has spotters too.

Max weight is 250kg, which I think should do me for now!

along with elitefts equipment i recommend ironmind products. not cheap at all but the most superior quality out there. i have bought my CoC's, dip belt, rolling thunder, straps, shirts and gym bag from them. if i could afford it i would buy more at the time. their stuff is used in strongman comps.

I've been trolling craigslist and looking at stores for a basic bench, olympic bar and weights.

I swear, people have made this fitness thing far too complicated. I go into the sporting goods shop. And it's all these thousand dollar contraptions with wires, pulleys and the like. Aren't machines made to make work easier?

For good quality floor matting don't buy any from gym or fitness websites as they are often over priced and only thin.

Best bet is to Google "rubber matting for horses" or "equestrian rubber matting" and get it from equestrian sites, or do the same search within eBay. I got my matting from eBay and from an equestrian advert. Got 18mm thick solid rubber mats 8 ft x 4ft in size and they weigh 45lbs each, really good quality at a fraction of the price on gym or fitness websites. Think I paid around £30 each where gym sites were advertising the same size matting but not as thick for around £60.

For EU folks, this store has reasonable prices:

http://goodlift.cz/

They sell weightlifting & powerlifting shoes, shirts, suits, wraps (knee and wrist), chalk, belts, etc.

Hi guys,

I wanted to get two things.A bf% caliper and a dip chain.I got the link for the caliper from browsing here but i need someone with experience to link me to an online store in the U.S please?I am an intermediate lifter so i don't need a belt that can support 200+ kgs, upto 100 would do.Price does not matter much,i am looking for things that last.

Living in Belgium, I got my gear from fitness-seller.nl. I've chosen the barbarian power rack with pull station. Very sturdy, doesn't move an inch for now :) I really love it
