I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Whey Protein - Isolate or Concentrate?

I have read/heard that there are only minor nutritional differences between WPI and WPC, however apparently WPI has a much faster absorption rate than WPC. I am just wondering if this is true and if it is, is the difference even that significant? Is it worth paying more for WPI or should I just go with the WPC? I plan to use the protein powders to add to my morning oatmeal and sometimes post-workout.

Just go with WPC. The cost difference does not outweigh the benefits.

If you are eating oatmeal, you obviously don't care about carbs, so there is no reason to get isolate.

Whey Protein Isolate is just concentrate that's been through additional refining. Concentrate/Isolate both contain the same type of protein, and it can be digested in roughly 30 minutes from the concentrate. How fast do you need your protein?

The Isolate has less milk leftovers, so it's good for people who are allergic/dislike the taste of concentrate. It's also purer protein, so if you're on a crazy high maintenance diet, it's better. That's about it.

Well that's definitely not me then lol I already bought my 3kg WPC for 60 AUD and am pretty satisfied with it so far. I don't use it a whole lot though, only when I can't get food straight after a workout if it's a busy day (generally only once or twice a week) and sometimes I add it to my oatmeal.

The taste seems ok but it did take getting used to the first time I tried it.
