I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Which intermediate program?

I'm now approaching the stage where I'm thinking about the move into intermediate training. A 1.5BW squat for me is 190.5kg (418lbs) and I'm currently squatting 167.5kg (369lbs) for 3x5. My current squat is without a doubt hardwork, but I have more in the tank. My goal is actually to try and hit 200kg (440lbs) before hitting intermediate if my legs will let me.

I like the look of Bill Starrs intermediate as well as the SL intermediate. I've also noticed quite a few people are using 5-3-1.

What I wanted to know is which intermediate program have some of you guys gone for and what were your reasons for choosing it.

I can't say I have gone for one, but I have the book : Eric Cressey's Maximum Strength - I also see Mehdi blogged about it.
I'd rather be the quick fox than the lazy dog.

First let me applaud the fact you are determined to go for 1.5BW using regular SL 5x5 (using 3x5, but hey ... ;) )
Far too many people switch without getting the most out of the program they are currently on.

Having said that, I am currently on SL Advanced combined with Coan/Philippi deadlift routine for Day 2.
I have looked at 5/3/1 as well but not too much in detail yet (will have to get the e-book sometime in the coming weeks).

Reason: it is quite simple, a continuation from SL 5x5 Beginner and it allows to swap some exercises if you know what you're doing.
The only struggle I still have with it is what needs to be done if you stall. For now I took the assumption my starting weight needs to be lowered.
I prefer to be called 'H' ;)

Texas Metod or Bill starr will be a good start for a first intermediate program.

I have to second this. I've done 2 rounds (32 weeks) of this. Tough as hell it's but absolutely worth doing if you have time to do 4 sessions a week.
