I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Width of foot stance during conventional deadlifts

Not talking about semi-sumo here.

Shoulder width vs narrow width-does it matter?

Anyone who seem to find the narrow width easier?

Your stance should be the natural stance you would jump from. I would start from there and alter it as you need to. I go relatively narrow (compared to some of the vids I have seen) and it works for me. I've tried going wider but it doesn't feel natural.

But, I would experiment around a bit to see what feels the most comfortable to you. Nobody is going to be out there with a ruler taking measurements so it doesn't really matter that much.

I setup with my feet in the middle on the smooth parts of a standard oly bar, which is roughly a natural standing width for me.

Ditto for me. I don't have to worry about shins scraping too.

Me neither (usually), although I often hit the top of my knees, which isn't very comfortable. I'd definitely err on the side of narrow rather than wide for deadlift.

Hey AhBen, I read through all of that site you posted awhile back about the group you have training together in Singapore. That's an impressive group of people, and it's really cool to see what you are all up to.
