I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Update on my weight and bodyfat levels...some pretty good results I think for less than 90 days....

I think the data speaks for itself on the effectiveness of implementation of SL5x5 and the Anabolic/Metabolic Diet.
My goal is to hit around 10% BF by 5/1/09

WEIGHT LOSS PHASE: 1800-2000 calroies per day 35% protein, 30% fat, 35% carb
Dec 15, 2008: 178 pounds, 18% BF
Jan 5, 2009: 176 pounds, 17% BF
Jan 26, 2009: 174 pounds, 16% BF
Feb 5, 2009: "Love handles" have pretty much disappeared. Decided at this point to start increasing daily calories from 1800-2000 up to 3000-3500 as I was thin enough at my waist and needed more fuel for recovery from the heavy exercise load I am putting on my body.

WEIGHT GAIN PHASE: 3000-3500 calories per day 40% protein, 40% fat, 20% carb
Feb 13, 2009: 176 pounds, 16% BF
Feb 25, 2009: 177 pounds, 15% BF
Mar 8, 2009, 180 pounds, 14% BF

Nice post! But I'm wondering...if you lost BF% and gained lean muscle during the weight gain period, can't you just stick with that?

I am still in my weight gain phase and plan to stick with it.... Just posting results so far, now that I have been in it 30 days. I think my data so far is an interesting counterpoint to 5000 calorie diets that also add on bodyfat.

We'll see what the next 30 days brings...

Excellent work. I can't agree more too. I started 2 months ago @ 189lbs & 20% BF. Yesterday morning I was 177lbs & will measure this week. I was 18.5% about 3 weeks ago & know I've lost BF, maybe a little muscle but the measurement will tell me for sure. My goal was 17% by March 1st. I doubt I hit that goal but it's all good. I can tell just by looking, my stomach is down & so are the handles, way down. abs are beginning to show - again 2 months!

& I look healthy, not that scary, sunk in look that I see in people who just eat lettuce.

Interesting post. I haven't been able to follow my bf% accurately as I have those tanita scales which beep and spit out a random number. My belly protrudes more than it did when I started but the love handles have diminished and you can grab less fat around my waist. I wish I'd bought some calipers when I started in order to track it effectively... (I've been aiming to bulk up first though, and lose fat later).

Sounds like you're doing well anyway!
