I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

I've never understood the rationale behind using a balance ball or a fitness ball to squat. It seems like you really aren't accomplishing anything (but I'm not a professional trainer....)

*link's broken BTW*.

whoops. thanks, i missed the"l" in html

i understand the rationale of the ball but its so unnecessary. just pile on heavier weights on the bar and squat, and that alone will increase your core strength. plus, that just looks so dangerous.

Ahhhh, it's supposed to be a way of training your core? Interesting concept but I agree about just adding more weight. It seems that in order to be able to balance the bar like that you would have to use a weight that is too light to really do any good. It also looks like there's a lot of potential for an injury.

Hate all you want, but that guy is functional as shit.

Functional? At what? If squatting on a ball is a function you wish to perform, then yeah, I'd say he's pretty damn functional. But beyond that, I don't see the point...

Just look at his ankle position/angle. Not only is there the huge potential for a wreck, forcing the load down at those angles will do some serious damage.

At very least, they should do it on those BOSU balls, that are half a swiss ball with a solid platform on it.

That just looks dangerous.

However, when I was working with my trainer we often did body weight and dumbbell/kettle bell squats on a bosu ball; specifically to work on my core for better balance and mobility. This squat on the swiss ball just looks wrong.
