I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Would this work; eat stop eat

Postby Tmv on Sat Sep 26, 2009 3:01 pm

I was thinking, would it work if you fasted every day and ate a normal sized, very healthy meal once a day ( post work out) for fat loss and gaining strength. It seems that I do really good whenever I fast but as soon as it's rest days I can't focus and get bored and eat. I've been on 5x5 for almost 2 months and am at a 160lb squat w/ perfect technique and don't seem to lag whenever I fast and work out. So would muscle deteriorate If I only ate once every 24 hours (food full of protien complex carbs, other food w/ vitamins and veggies). I don't have the ese book btw ( can't afford it ATM). Any input is appreciated thanks!

I'm gonna perform a study on myself starting now.
Starting weight : 218
fat : 24% (obviously it's not working right because I was 24% when I started SL and healthy food 2 months ago)
height : 6ft hetrosexual
athletic build
going to eat very healthy at the end of fast everyday around 2pm
I'll let you know how I'm feeling after a week if anyone cares :p

So it would be fasting for +20h then eat 1-2 meals, every day? That sounds like the warrior diet approach, I've been moving to that lately.

Yes that's what I had in mind seems to be working really nicely so far, tommorow I'll see how my lifts are. I also have a physically demanding job, ramp agent, so I'm doing HIIT like 5 times throughout the day. Eat stop eat just seems too easy as of right now.

It should not be a problem, but you'll lose some muscles by doing so, do not expect to improve your strength - the goal is to maintain the weights. Also I would not recommend to do that pre-work out days. I feel weak, but it's just my experience, put it differently you should have enough glycogen stored in your muscles to be able to work out efficiently.
W 215lb, BF 16%, 5x5 results:
Bench Press - 245lb
Squats - 235lb
Dead Lifts - 275lb (3x5)

Nah this is wrong you'll keep getting stronger as your body gets used to burning ketones for energy. This is from personal experience, I've been doing ESE for a while now and I've set new PRs all over the place.

I've also not lost muscle, I've actually gained muscle (though not a lot at all).
